Klaus Steinmetz passed away

It appears that it has not yet come to the attention of this forum that Klaus Steinmetz passed away on May 6th.

My condolence to Oliver and his family.

We all remember Klaus as pilote but also in his various roles as Competition Manager at Abarth and BMW and above all in as the one who teached Opel saloons how to tackle a race track.

Sad news! :(

Although I was never much of a tin top man, his name was omnipresent when I grew up. He certainly left a legacy.

My condolences to the family.

That is very sad news indeed. A small consolation is that his son recently published a fine book on the career of his father - a must read if you master the German language.

He worked for the FISA in the early 1980s as he was responsible for inspecting the Birmingham Superprix before the FISA granted them a licence to host a F3000 race in 1986.
