Obviously an in to get her the F1 seat shes wanted.
Shes Got Balls, Big Balls, but i dont know if shes got what it takes. She's probably about a Hamilton Level in talent but shes no Alonso, Kubica or Vettel.
Thoughts, Concerns,
Please discuss.

Danica Patrick (but for all the wrong reasons)
or
Sarah Moore (who is the first female for ages that could genuinely have the talent)

Susie Stoddard equal talent to Lewis Hamilton.... That had to be sarcasm... but NO!
The constant attention and desire to shove a woman into anything that is traditionally male dominated... Is frankly just getting dull! How about we just let the most talented "DRIVERS" reach F1 and if one of them happens to be a woman then great!
Susie Stoddard IMHO is not one of the most talented drivers.

Unfortunately, the sport has never been a meritocracy. I agree for the most part.
If the sport is to be more accessible to women, then there needs to be a genuinely talented woman in F1. Just putting a pretty face in there for the sake of marketing is self-defeating and sets women in motorsport further back. F1 needs to wait for the right woman to arrive. To have any impact, she needs to make it to F1 on merit.

I'm not sexually attracted to any of the current F1 drivers, but think they're all pretty much great. I'd think the same of an ugly/plain looking woman who was also kick ass in an F1 car. If we just got a token woman face, it would just further the incorrect stereotype that women can't drive as well as men due to gender differences. If they're pretty AND genuinly good, even better for the sports viewing figures and future women racers who become inspired I guess.

In the last 30 years or so, there's only been one woman who merited an F1 drive - Desiree Wilson.
Agreed.
She won the Aurora F1 round at Brands one year and the car was in the scrutineers bay for many hours afterwards, as they desperately tried to find something to disqualify her on. Desiré was unlucky to race in a time when discrimination was rife. It's still not gone completely, but I think if she was part of today's generation, she'd stand a much better chance of making it.
I also wonder how far Amanda Whitaker could have gone if she'd had the right backing. She was certainly very quick.

Yep, and in her honour they named a grandstand after her at Paddock Hill Bend, Brands. Which I believe is still called the Desiree Wilson Stand.

There are two candidates for next female in F1. It is likely to be either...
Danica Patrick (but for all the wrong reasons)
or
Sarah Moore (who is the first female for ages that could genuinely have the talent)
Sarah Moore, definitely. Give her a few years to mature and get in the bigger leagues, and she'll be a top driver.
BTW, whatever happened to Hannelore Werner? She was quite quick in 1-litre F3 back in 1969, but admitted she didn't have those critical wedding vegeatbles to be as aggressive as the drivers with the dangly bits.

Hasn't Patrick just signed a 3 year deal to stay in IndyCar? Assuming the contract isn't broken she will be 31 before she could enter F1, and that is pretty old to be joining F1. I think her future is in the US, and ultimately with NASCAR.

That's my take on it too, but given the amount of media hype and sponsorship that is behind her, she's the only one who is in a position where it could be feasible.

On topic I think it would be great to see a woman in F1, however the issue of bad accidents happening to a woman driver leaves me with a similar feeling that sending woman to war gives me! As to Susie being only at Hamilton's level, well she could do a lot worse, he is after all the youngest F1 champion that has ever been and with his whole career in front of him, he has plenty of time to improve to Alonso, Kubica and Vettels level doesn't he! Then of course you could just be deliberately seeking attention.

Seriously though, girls can be very good racing drivers, they can be extremely smooth with a delicate touch, just I think some agresivity is what the ones I've seen lack. I remember Lotta Helberg in go kart, she could be quicker than Fisichella, Trulli, and the gang in Qualifying, but by the ond of the first lap she wouldn't be leading anymore lots of times, the boys just ate her up right away.

I would add Lyn St. James to that list.In the last 30 years or so, there's only been one woman who merited an F1 drive - Desiree Wilson.
She definitely had the talent, if not the access.
Anything new on Simona de Silvestro?
I watched her win the Formula Atlantic race a couple of years back at the Long Beach Grand prix, and she looked a lot more convincing in that series than danica had a few years previously.
I seem to believe she did pretty well last year in Atlantics as well.

Alice Powell - 16 years old, fast in Formula Renault, a total F1 fanatic judging by her Facebook
Forget Sarah Moore she does not have the slightest interest or ambition in F1, wants to be a touring car driver
Yeah Alice is a proper open wheel girl trying very hard. Not sure she has 'it' just yet. She needs to win a few races yet. Sarah Moore is doing very well (probably better) but as you say is a tin top girl, wants to follow her brother to Le Mans etc..

Ianina Zanazzi was another very fast female driver. I remember she beated MartÃn Basso —who was then a top driver in Euro 3000 and Atlantics— to the Argentine FR title a decade ago, but the lack of financial support forced her to retire...

Simona de Silvestro won 4 races in the Atlantic Championship in 2009, finished 3rd in the over all championship.
[edit to add]
But there were only 6 drivers who did the full season, so a pretty meager championship.

Yes and Matias Lauda will drive F1 too
Next female driver will be...............
The next Ms. X who finishes in top 5 in world karting championships. Will have NO problem in getting manufacturer support deal to go through F3 & GP2, and junior car results permitting should be a top F1 driver.

I'm not familiar with her myself but if your opinions are correct I'm suprised no F1 team has noticed she's as good as an F1 world champion and offered her a seat.

There are quite a few women racers in open wheelers named in here, far more than in the years I've followed racing.
Personally I've always followed drag racing, being a SoCal native. Hot rods has always had all genders and ethnicity deeply involved.
I sincerely hope that some woman is a WDC someday in my life, I've always thought that race driving is about as even a playing field as there is in sports, where no one ethnic background or (hopefully) gender is unable to compete heads up.

I think 'Former F1 driver' is screen name of thread starter not subject? In my opinion Katherine Legge is a better driver than Suzie and nether real F1 material."FormerF1Driver"?

Can someone name the 2 youg ladies whos photos have been posted without caption?
Certainly time a female did get into F1,as none since Giovanna Amati who was only a midfield runner in F3000.
Best result in recent times Leanne Tander a winner in Australian F3 08.
Sorry to learn that Sarah Moore is not interested in single seaters as she is best of juniors including the boys

Corrected it for you
Seriously, she is useless, just because she is shagging a multi millionaire doesn't mean she is going to make F1, Paul Stoddart has more chance of an F1 drive than Suzie Stoddart
