With great regret I have just heard that Ronnie Peterson's former manager, Swedish entrepreneur, circuit owner and sometime Historic car entrant Staffan Svenby has died - I believe on New Year's Eve.

The man who returned the Jack Playford-bodied Lumsden Lister coupe WTM to our circuits IIRC, which gladdened the hearts of many. RIP

Blimey; that's a bit of a shock. I first met him when he was Stefan Johansson's manager in 1981.

He can't have been any age at all...

Autosport reported the passing of Staffan Svenby in the "In Brief" section of it's News Pit & Paddock feature in the January 7th issue. In addition to his role as Ronnie's manager, the magazine reports that his collection of historic sportscars included the Jaguar XJR-12 that won the Le Mans Legends Group C race in 2008.

It's shocking to think that Ronnie would have been 65 had he still been with us ..... he always seemed to epitomise the phrase "boyish enthusiasm"

Indeed very sad news, I did quite a lot of work for Stefan in the late 70's and early 80's restoring various cars for him.
He was a real Gentleman.
I have some photos of him with some of his cars outside his house, I will post them later.
