Ultimate race-edit music

You got some build up stuff there with pictures of the drivers on the grid, flashing grins at the camera and generally playing up to the lens, the edit flicking between them as they get ready for the coming battle. You have that long shot of the start, some cars jinking around as they speed towards the viewer and some carbon fibre flies up and then there's some carnage and offs at the first corner. Another brilliant couple of minutes follow with some overtaking, a couple of cars touching and a spin off, aerial shots, slow-mo's, pitstop flunks, and some worried faces on the pit wall as some non-drama unfolds. Finally, an engine lets go spectacularly and there's a driver throwing his wheel from the car in disgust and then...eventually...a fist flies up into the air shaking in the glory of a win as the car crosses the finishing line and the chequered flag is waved.
What's the ultimate soundtrack for the bestest ever race edit in the whole world ever?
When you make your suggestion, see if you can post an link to youtube or similar so we can hear your choice especially if it's something obscure and especially because of the international nature of the forum and the often very local nature of popular music.
My choice, until someone comes up with something which I think is a better idea;

So you're putting together this totally sick edit of the race, innit and you've decided you're going to ruin it with one of your fave bangin' toons all over the sound of those lovely engines and squealing tyres.

Wow, good track! Never heard of them til today...
Generally, nothing beats engine sound plus absence of silly commentary!
But if it has to be music: Nine Inch Nails all the way Wish

Apparently its used on a racing game or something like that so its been "roadtested" and passd with flying colours.

If your into hard rock, I dont even need to tell you which song this is ... all I'll say is "take the corner, join the crash, a nitro junkie lives way too fast!!!"

Plus the Turkey one went brilliantly with the RB crash.
Basically I think the FOM can do better than me at this!

First thing the comes to mind is:
But I think I can do better.
How about Rainbow - A Light in the Black?
jjcale, you shuld be ashamed. Metallica has at least half a dozen better songs for race edits.
- Metal Militia
- For Whom the Bell Tolls
And Megadeth tops 'em
- Bad Omen
And we have all missed the most obvious one, which should already have been used in 2009

I didn't mean swearing. The language is poor. Saying that he was so high on heroin what do you expect?

Okay. Still, a moment of genius before the flame was extinguished. But for a race edit? I'm not convinced, TBH.

FOM used Kasabian several times last seasonKasabian is great, and they even used it in one season highlights, I think 2007 it was.

For an end of season if Vettel or Alonso (especially) won it, would be highly amusing.

Under that specific aspect, okay, maybe... for Webber too, surely?

I'm throwing this one into the mix too - the lyrics work too;
Lunatic Calm - Leave you far behind. Even got a good break beat for the slow-mo's.

I remember ITV using Eminem Lose Yourself for Schumacher. I was a perfect fit for F1.
I just wish there was still a vid on the net using it for F1 like they did. But I cant find one. The lyrics work perfectly too.

John Petrucci - "Glasgow Kiss"
Moby - "Bodyrock"
The Stranglers - "No More Heroes"
The Verve - "Bittersweet Symphony" (totaly different approach, something for an epic race )
U2 - "Elevation"
Dire Straits - "Heavy Fuel"

Actually I like this one because it's got a bit of build up to it, which most of the suggested songs so far don't do. Good for some quick shots of pit babes, yachts, and aerial shots of the track. Maybe the edit for the Russian GP?Goran Bregovic - "Kalashnikov" (I'm not quite sure about this one though )

I respect your choice, but I don't think it's quite F1 race edit material ;)Here are some ideas and there are many more which I don't remember now and may add later:
John Petrucci - "Glasgow Kiss"
(Possibly because that much awesome would just crash any computer)

I'd be interested to know if anyone can think of a good slow track which works with the sort of violent images we see in race edits. I recall 'Lady Jane' (Rolling Stones) being used over images of the violence at Altamont free concert once very effectively. No good for F1, that one, but a slow tune with fast images? Got to be done.
Classical music? In the official 2000 season review video, they had a clip of Ralf Schumacher spin-turning in slow motion set to the slow movement of Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 21. The similar 1994 video played a montage of drivers spinning during practice and qualifying for the Hungarian Grand Prix set to "Morning Mood" by Edvard Grieg.

More popularist cheese but I thought Pruit Igoe by Philip Glass. It's a movie and videogame favourite too (as the video shows) but works pretty well for all that, IMOClassical music?
