Hopefully lesson will be learnt and circuit completed well in advance. The Korean International Circuit got me interested in the development of new circuits, the design of the track, the facilities and the progress of the construction. The below pictures got me thinking where they are relative to Korea a year before the event. More available here: http://www.gpupdate....1-photos/6262// So how do you think this one will pan out??

But seriously, the whole situation with korea should serve as a message to India. No idea where they are in construction, but if they aren't stepping up the progress to avoid an embarrassment I'll be surprised.

Mark Hughes, Vice President of the company, is confident that the facility will be ready on time for the race which will take place on 30 October (subject to circuit approval by F1 governing body the FIA). “As with any large scale project, there might always be the possibility of encountering difficult situations,” he explained to India’s F1Pulse.com. “However, we are doing everything possible to ensure that our project does not run into any problems. “We have a team of experienced professionals handling all aspects of building and operating the race track and we have the strength and the resources that are needed to execute a project like this. “So, we hope things will go off smoothly and we will not encounter any serious problems with the race track or with our inaugural F1 race in 2011.”
The layout, some parts look simliar to Korea?

Reminds me of the current Nurburgring layout.I was one with the opinion that the Korean race would go ahead and finish on time, not sure if I have the same confidence here. Quote from the promoter

This.
For the umpteenth time, the government has nothing to do with this, a private company called The Jaypee Group is behind this, and they know better than that.

The layout is like a modern variation of Kyalami (South Africa) if anything.
The crap bits of modern Kyalami, yes. There's nothing to equal Sunset, Clubhouse or the Esses there. And somehow I doubt there'll be elevation changes in the Delhi circuit to match the 'Mineshaft' section. This track looks like Picasso drew it.

Comment was only half serious mate!! Who was in charge of CG building project though?
As for the track. Yes, people are right it similar to Kyalami. A bollocks really version of Kyalami to be more precise.
Where are the fast bends? FFS!!! Another stop/start Tilke dump.

You sure thats not present day korea ;)

I know you're winking but you cannot compare the two.
Korea looks more advanced than the UK these days. Anyone doesn't believe me, just go there. It was behind the UK 15 years ago and now it is well ahead.
India is still held back by the caste system and huge amounts of poverty.
I am still confident the circuit will be ready though. It's high time F1 came to India. BRIC countries will dominate the world soon. It's only right that they each have a GP.

Russia? Dominate the world? I'm assuming you're thinking of a different Russia?

“It is one of the best tracks with ample opportunities to overtake,” said Boris Lazaric, chief operating officer in charge of construction of the 5.14 kilometre circuit.
Well that's jinxed it then.

I'll hazard a guess to say they are making the circuit wider to change the angle of entry into those corners. Turn three is a hairpin, turn six is the second half of a double-apex left, and turn eleven is the right hander at end of the (banked?) section that is tighter than the corners that imemdiately precede it. It's probably going to be a perception thing, with the corners looking much slower than they actually are. And the degradation of the Pirellis might alter the car's behaviour through those corners, forcing the drivers to take them slower as the grip wears off.So they changed the track. Anybody care to explain & illustrate this "We will be the first circuit in the world to have a faster corner into a shorter apex, which means we are widening three corners to create a shorter apex at Turns 3, 6, and 11 - this was put forth by the FIA through Charlie Whiting"

Yeah ... in theory !
But really there is a finite length of apex on the racing line fr most corners

They look alright. I like the 3rd picture. At least there are changes in elevation. Am I right in thinking one of the corners is banked?
Hope the Indians on this project are better than the mob that couldn't get Eden Gardens ready for the start of the Cricket world cup.

The "Parabolica" is said to be banked. The company building the track is Jaypee a major construction/real estate company so I have no doubts that they'll succeed in time.

"Three turns out of the 16 on the racing track have been modified by German track designer Herman Tilke to provide more overtaking opportunities in what the organisers claim to be one of the fastest circuits in the world.
The top speed on the 5.14km track is pegged at a zipping 320 kmph and the overtaking opportunities will only add to the thrills.
"The width of the turn has been increased by 15-20 meters, so that 5-6 cars get the space to go past each other," said Sameer Gaur, managing director, Jaypee Sports International (JPSI) on Monday."

Wont happen.
Agreed. He made Sepang so wide for exactly the same reason and still it only ended up with one racing line.

I don't understand Tilke's fascination with ruler edged straights and chicanes. I suppose pretty much all of the older tracks in F1 would easily fail the FIA's standards if they were new tracks, so he's not really to blame. The FIA will only ever allow tracks like these, but to me the layout seems like one of the most bland in a very long time.
