So what is your bet? The race would be exciting if Alonso is out early in the race. We will see a race till the end between the Bulls.

Wow if Vettel wins and Webber finishes 2nd then they will both finish on 256 points...

That would give Vettel the championship as long as Alonso scores 10 points or less as he'll have one more win than Webber. Oh crap.

This.

I really can't see Ferrari topping Red Bulls on outright pace at Abu Dhabi.

I think Vettel wins, Alonso's champion with a 3rd or 4th, because Red Bull cant bring themselves to support Webber.

And nothing can go wrong for RB? I doubt they will win 2 races in a row with such a dominating style.

Red Bull are going to have to get off their high horse - in reality, mechanical failures or disasters aside, the WDC goes to Webber or Alonso. If Vettel is faster than Webber, but Alonso is not as fast as webber (as was the case this race) than Red Bull will have to wave Webber past. End of story.

The way I see it:

1) Red Bulls are fastest.
2) Vettel seems to have the edge on Webber.
3) Currently Alonso seems marginally faster than the McLarens.

What this adds up to, barring surprises is another Red Bull 1 - 2 in Abu Dhabi - if they want to be WDC then Vettel will have to give over.

You really cant not back Alonso.

How many back to back 1-2's have RB had this year?

NONE!

And I doubt Alonso will finish lower than 3rd as the Mclarens arent quick enough.

As much as I want to see Webber WDC, I am only seeing Alonso or Vettel.

RBR 1-2 with Alonso 3rd or 4th and enough points to win WDC. Or Alonso's engine finally blows and Vettel wins giving him the title based on wins over Mark.

:(

2010 WDC after Abu Dhabi:

Alonso if 1st or 2nd
Webber if 1st + Alonso 3rd
Vettel if 1st + Alonso 5th
Hamilton if 1st + Alonso 11th + Webber 6th + Vettel 3rd

Acceptance.

This would be a better reaction:

I would actually laugh my ass off if Alonso would be 20-30s behind and decided to pull over after they had crossed the line in swapped positions. I mean he wouldn't loose anything but Vettel would probably decide to kill someone on the pitwall :D

I voted Alonso, but something tells me that after all twists and turns of this season Red Bull will run away with both championships (Webber WDC). It will be RB 1-2 with Alonso 3rd and Vettel wil let Webber pass. After all they (Red Bull) can't be that stupid to give Alonso WDC for the sake of Vettel winning a race. :)

Webber. RB 1-2 and Vettel will definitily move over if Webber needs it. Car-wise Abu Dhabi should be good for them so barring failures (for wich Alonso has a risk as well) Webber should get it for sure.

Vettel will win the race. He is the fastest driver in the fastest car and will have the best engine in Abu Dhabi. No reason for him not to win. The real question will be how he decides if he can give the championship to Webber or Alonso. I hope he will be saved from that decision or he will let Alonso have his tainted championship. Webber certainly does not deserve a sacrifice from Seb in my view. He has acted like an aßhole IMO for most of the year.

Having seen RBR's pace today, I am quite confident Webber will win the WDC. Fernando and Ferrari are not quick enough to challenge RBR + Webber combination. Of course, this is excluding reliability issues and accidents.

Does the difference in speed today mean much for Abu Dhabi? Ferrari was fast enough in Singapore.

Suppose they're running VET - WEB - ALO on the final lap and Vettel moves over to let Webber through in the final corners.

But then Alonso grinds to a halt within sight of the line for some reason and ends up classified 9th or whatever.

Vettel will have been denied the title.

What a tough call.

Looks to me that Red Bull will have to try hard not to get an 1-2, and in this case Webber is going to finish first (assuming that Alonso is going to be 3rd), Hohner already said so, so my voice is Webbo*2.

But of course a lot of unexpected things can happen, but on sheer pace I really can't see anyone challenging Red Bull. There were like what, 0.5 seconds faster in the race on 1:15 laps?

So long as Alonso's engine doesn't blow, I can't see him finishing lower than 3rd. The McLarens just don't seem to have the absolute pace necessary to contend, and I think Vettel is slightly quicker than Mark, and will win the race (because I don't care what Red Bull says, I know Vettel will have no intention of yielding for a teammate).

I think the only question marks are the reliability of Alonso's engines and the possibility of the Red Bull drivers being involved in accidents. Both Webber and Vettel this year have shown a habit for finding ways to hit championships rivals in high-pressure situations, and I think that neither one of them will race clean with each other, if it comes down to a fight amongst themselves.

Why? Drivers have repeatedly shown that what they say to the press has little to do with what they will do on the track. Unless it's the last lap, and it's Vettel, Webber, Alonso with Alonso clearly not at risk of a DNF, I can't see Vettel being willing to consider a request to yield to Webber, as in just about any other scenario, he would still have a shot at the title.

If Vettel is leading the race, he will have a chance to win the WDC until the finish line as Alonso could have a DNF. I do not think Vettel will let Webber through.

As I said earlier in the season... Vettel or Alonso. Vettel should be leading going to the last race but reliability cost him dearly. I predict some kind of setback will happen to Webber in Abu Dhabi... like being held up in qualifying or something thus starting the race on the back foot. I also predict Alonso will not have a perfect weekend. It's Vettel or Alonso but my gut feeling says Vettel will pip Alonso by a point or two. I think Red Bull will again be the class of the field. Hamilton? forget it. He will be on the podium but behind Vettel at least. He will beat Alonso though.

If it's vettel - webber - alonso on the last lap then he'll move over, what's he got to gain by not doing so?

Although if I was alonso and in 3rd I'd get the team to start sending me panicked messages about the state of the engine and back off so the gap between him and vettel is as big as possible!

Well its pretty straight forward really if Webber is running in 2nd and Alonso 3rd near the closing laps of Abu Dhabi that would put Vettel out of contention unless Alonso DNFs in those laps. In which case hthe team will probably tell him over radio that Alonso is 3rd which then he will know to let Webber through to prevent Alonso taking the title. Even if vettel is the favourite at Red Bull the team would be seriously angry at him if he delibertaley did not give his position to Webber to take the WDC.

Ten laps before the finish, Vettel willl be first, Webber second, Alonso 3rd and Hamilton 4th. At that moment, Vettel will be ordered to lower revs because his engine is too hot. He will obey and Webber will pass him for the victory.

Then, one lap later, Alonso's car will break down with an enormous pillar of smoke.

Vettel will be completely berserk trying to overtake Webber. In the following struggle, both will be out of the race, giving Hamilton the race and the WDC

To be honest if I was Webber I would want assurances from the team that this happens much sooner in the race. There will be no repercussions for Vettel's long term future if he does not yield. The higher ups drink Vettel Kool Aid.
If by the predetermined part of the race, say the pit stops or failing that just after the pit stops Red Bull don't play ball Webber should run his engine at maximum so he runs out of fuel or merely 'run' off the track allowing Alonso to finish second.

Last time when Alonso had to finish 2nd in the final race to get WDC, he ended up 3rd and Räikkönen became champion.

The second time when Hamilton needed to finish the final race as 5th to get WDC (the first time being 2007), he managed to (re)gain that place in the second last corner and became champion.

By that, it's Alonso WDC 2010.;)

Anyway, this shows it's not over yet for either of the four guys remaining.

The question is - can Red Bull finish 2 races in a row without mechanical/driver failure?
