For those of you who frequented Meadowdale Raceway in the late 50's and early 60's...

Dean Lind, 80, died of complications from Alzheimer’s disease Wednesday morning at a hospice in Encinitas, Calif.

Dean, along with Jerry Dunbar and Tito Nappi, founded the Midwestern Council Sports Car Club. Dean was active as a racer and official at Meadowdale Raceway and other venues in the 50's/60's.

Dean was also an accomplished golfer. Dean beat future U.S. Open champion Ken Venturi by four holes to win the first U.S. Junior Amateur golf title in 1948. Dean also captained Michigan University to two Big Ten titles
