I am looking for anyone who knew or raced with a guy named Mike
Richards from New Zealand. He raced Formula Vees.
I purchased his car recently and plan on restoring it.
I do not have any info on the car. It was No. 39. Any
info or pics would be great.

I remember Wally Richards and Steve Richards racing FV in NZ in that period, but not Mike. Which is not to say it didn't happen

Wally Richards unfortunatley is no longer with us but he has a son named Mike who is Steve Richards cousin. Both Steve and Wally raced F Vee so it is likely that Mike Richards followed in the family tradition.

Now you mention it, I have a vague recollection of Wally's son racing (and knew it wasn't Steve)

I raced a Formula V at Raupuna & Levels one meeting each in the late 60's or early 70's. It belonged to a guy from Wellington, Chris ?
Can't remember what number it was. I ran it as No77. At Levels in one race I took one hand off the steering wheel to wave to Rod Mc Elrea who was standing at a flag station and I lost in big time...............

I note that in the FVee field for the December 1979 Baypark meeting, there are entries from B O P (Bay of Plenty) Motors, Rotorua for both Wally Richards (Tee Dee F V) and Warren Richards (RM4 F V ). Is Warren another son of Wally, or just a coincidence of names.

Since this subject came up I've been told that Warren is Wally's second son. Haven't got the promised contact details for Mike yet though

Thanks for all the replies. I have a little more info that might help
finding Mike. He supposedly was an officer in the NZ Navy then
stationed in the USA in the 80's. That is when I think the car was
shipped to the states. It does have a tech sticker from Baypark and
also some type of inspection sticker that had a 1979/1980 date.

what it is as far as make.
Any help would be great on getting the pic posted
