Oh, come on... Obviously that "dialogue" cannot be real and I wrote it tongue in cheek.
But still the truth is that Mark is probably going first to shake down the car and get through any sort of early reliability problems.
I thought I had said that I like your post. Anyway as somebody said it is likely that the team does switch that task between both drivers, which are well know as hard workers with good technical insight.
I just hope that the car is good enought for a serious challange for the WDC and WCC and that we hear once again "We took nothing for granted"...

You have seen F1 before, right? It's a technical contest in that sense Newey is the only one doing a good job! This guy is ruining F1 for me....he is frankly the only person standing in the way of looking forward to what should be an interesting season.
You kinda sense Ferrari, Mclaren and maybe even Mercedes will have cars that could be within range of each other... but you also sense this guy will once again build a class of the field and turn it into another boring finger this and that season..arghh

joseluisf1: Rumour from the last minute - Newey has found 4 or 5 tenths to the RB8 with something *amazing*.
(sorry for amateur translation, but the sense is the same I believe).

Not "amazing", but rather SURPRISING, that what it says

I'm sorry, but finding 4 to 5 tenths in F1, is akin to a quantum leap. It has to be something super amazing, because you simply dont find such a performance gain overnight, or with a tweak here or there to the aerodynamics. The aim of the top teams is to realsitically gain 0.100 to 0.150 in a fortnight, and if you manage that, you are percieved to be doing a good job.

Its also a bit scary that the championship winning team from last year are also one of the quieter ones over the winter.

If he has gained 4-5ths etc what is it over? Over last year or over what they have lost.
Its also a bit scary that the championship winning team from last year are also one of the quieter ones over the winter.
Red Bull did their talking at the end of last season with Newey & Horner saying the new car was looking good.
With the staff having earnt 4 win bonuses in 12 months, they would have little incentive to be talking to the media.

I have. All I got back was 'that's highly unlikely', thus the 'discussion' never went any further. The thread has then returned to type, fawning over the Google translated crap that Jose Luiz produces. C'est la vie.erm no, you haven't postulated anything.

Williams did that in 1991 to 1992, right?

It depends on the fundamentals of the car. How the front wing interacts with the splitter, sidepods and everything further back. All of that stuff about finding several tenths purely from a new floor and diffuser is wide of the mark. Pinch of salt. More than.I'm sorry, but finding 4 to 5 tenths in F1, is akin to a quantum leap.

What???Newey is now a tweeting star designer,... Disgustingly rich and kinda like more busy with twitter than designing. famous guy and leader of WCC team... Honestly I don't like him that he acting like creating rumor and animo, manipulating fans. IMHO engineer can focus on his function more than being a politician.
There are only fake Neweys on Twitter.

Yeah, he's very oldskool. He doesn't even prefer to use computers for a profession which is extremely CAD- and computer-heavy since a very long time already.Yeh, he doesn't seem a 'twitter' kind of guy.

This season will be about two things.
Nose Cones and Diffusers.
Red Bull have experience in Single Deck Diffusers, they had a car beating the Brawn GP car's that had a single deck diffuser, and they have a Front Wing setup better than anyone.
I really can't see anyone stopping Red Bull this year, although a bit of competition would be great.

I must admit that I'm getting more and more afraid that the new RB might indeed be ugly. Maybe Newey will amaze everyone by having a car without a crazy nose.I really hope that Newey sticks to his usual ability to produce beautiful cars, but should he put on a Caterham style nose, I sincerely hope that Sebastian will name his chassis "Ugly Betty".

It's hard to imagine Newey drawing an ugly stepped nose like that on his drawing board.

I think well see it like McLaren without the under plow basically the rb7 lowered accordingly.

Why they would bring the old car? i think its the new1
The better question would be since they're doing an online launch why on earth would they allow its picture to be taken? No way this is the RB8. Teams are too careful for that.

It doesnt hurt to have the old - very succesful - car there whilst you are working on testing and setting up the new car.

LOL, maybe they are not ready with the 8 yet. They were not sure of themselves concerning the first test.
