A bunch of Ferraris at the Spa Ferrari Days, everything is amazing from the 512M to the 333SPs to the F1 cars at the end.
Hakkinen on a qualifying lap at Monaco in the 2001 Mclaren. Best exhaust of the V10 era, no question. Makes me hate the V8s, shame the TC noise is so constant.

For well over two years I thought I'd never hear a car that could top the BRM V16, but this did:
That Judd Beemer is Fantastic, although i thill think the BRM V16 just has the edge

There are some videos on YouTube of mid-1990s warm-up sessions on Argentine TV with no commentary, such as this one from the 1996 Monaco Grand Prix.

This is so depressing on so many levels. Firstly that glorious sound, the V8 just sound wrong, all ****ing wrong. Then the car itself, better proportions than today and was just before the crazy winglet/slip up era culminated in extreme ugliness in 2008. Then the handling, man how SLOW does he look in the corners? They are on rails today and you can see him trying to reign in all that power whereas today they seem to have more grip than power.
Absiolute shite what we have now, shite.

Formula One has completely lost the concept that it's about entertainment, and entertainment of *people outside of the world of Formula One*. The 2004 V10 sounded great, why are they going to a smaller displacement V6 again....?
WTF?

That Honda made a great noise, I recall thinking it was just a bit louder and higher pitched than the rest of the field when I saw it race in Canada, but none of the V10s gave me goosebumps the way the 2000-2001 Mclarens did with their unique shriek. Almost like a V12, shame they went mainstream in 2002 with their exhaust configuration.
The NSX sounded nice, but the new HSV that replaced it sounds even better-Fantastic V6 sounding more like a V12

Yup! A great sound, but it is, of course, a 3-cylinder two stroke - the V4 was a four stroke, and sound quite different

vee-twins, fours, straight sixes, straight eights (not here, unfortunately, but search for Bugatti 35B) all have their distinctive sounds, but may I commend the single-cylinder Peugeot at around 50 seconds on this clip

I see what you mean. I prefer the latest Honda V10's because of the way it screams/sounds at full song. That's such a crisp sound. Yes it was louder than the rest, all Hondas are louder and not just a bit, even I could clearly see the difference from the poor sound quality of the net streams. But the 'scream' of their latest V10's was almost scary. It was like a wild demon releasing all its fury. It sounded like it rev'd higher than the rest. That sound is what made me really love F1.That Honda made a great noise, I recall thinking it was just a bit louder and higher pitched than the rest of the field when I saw it race in Canada, but none of the V10s gave me goosebumps the way the 2000-2001 Mclarens did with their unique shriek. Good sound is not the same as loud. Top Fuel dragsters are really deafening but the sound is monotone. Current V8s might be loud but compared to the glorious V10s they're only an annoying and loud noise.the sound of the v8 in person is a sound to behold tho, the mclaren at silverstone was the most deafening sound on the overrun at silverstone this year no other car could compare, the r31 was a good second lol
however i do love the sound of the v10 scream

Matra V12. End of story... or not really.
Mazda 4-rotor
And everything else in the Group C days.
Here's something a bit more obscure from the Group C days, the Mercedes C291. Flat 12 3.5L engine, completely different sound than the bassy V8 turbos it replaced in the C9 and C11. Awesome. Also, Michael Schumacher drove it, so it has to be cool
Yay a sound thread, My favourite

While on the subject of the Lambo, here's another video of it doing a hillclimb in Austria or Germany, brilliant noise. No need to turn this one up...

A bit better sound quality (1990/Suzuka/Mansell):Not sure if I'd say it's *the* best, but it's up there, to me:
Here's a recording from 1998: http://www.mediafire...x3x6d9jam67i271I've been looking for clips of one of my favorites, the BMW V12 LMR, but the car stopped racing just before the explosion of digital cameras and recording devices, and it's not a frequent visitor to historic events so good footage is hard to come by... Here's a bit from Sebring in 1999, lots of other footage but the BMWs are screaming past frequently in the first couple minutes, I loved that car and the others with that awesome BMW V12 (V12 LM 98, Mclaren GTR).
And the F1 GTR: http://www.mediafire...sfdbzx4wwspyxow
They're someone's recordings. I can't remember the site address, if it even still exists.
