“At the moment, Graham Hill is neither fast enough to be a real challenge on a Superbike or slow enough to be a place for a safe overtake"

At the moment, Graham Hill is neither fast enough to be a real challenge on a Superbike or slow enough to be a place for a safe overtake
he wasn't going to follow it up with "so we're going to make it faster". Why the obsession with turning every British circuit into the Hungaroring?

Why? Why turn one of the trickiest turn ins in british motorsport into a mickey mouse hairpin? If it goed ahead I hope they keep the original as an option. I can't see it improving racing. I recall so many people making mistakes on the exit and getting hassled from behind.
They could keep the corner, but the run-up to it will not be the same. Look at the new straight heading towards the hairpin, that'll require the original track there to be removed, leaving a sharper bend towards the old corner.
Just a proposal anyway.

Just a proposal anyway.
They have applied for planning permission from the local council. It's gone beyond a proposal.

Glad it's been abandoned and hope it's the last we see of that

Looks more like a cheap way to gain some circuit length than a modification of actual merit.
Bit like Snetterton.
Lets just cram as many corners into as little space as possible to get it up to FIA standards, instead of just lengthening the straights or rebuilding the old part of the track by the main road.
