Does anybody know how long (in meter) is the run to the 1st corner?
Google Earth count tells around 470-480 to the apex. A bit shorter to the braking point of course.

Just saw a tweet from Brundle that says Schumacher is to take a new gearbox and resulting 5 place grid drop.
Makes sense I guess, starting 23rd isn't much worse than starting 18th, he should be able to make up the spots fairly quickly.

Not only that, but he gets a free change next race - that could be very beneficial.
I wonder if we'll see a rash of poorly placed runners suddenly finding a fault in their gearboxes

I thought he will now have to stick with this gearbox for five GPs?
I'm not up to date on these rules, like I used to.

I wonder if the feed will run tape delayed by a few minutes, in case trouble starts
I don't see that happening myself (anyway, why a few minutes? Even a 10-15 second delay would be enough for them to make sure something isn't shown if something serious occurs).

I'm surprised he's not afraid of slower cars, that according to Marko/Vettel are a major problem of F1 these days. That is when you can't overtake them and crash into them.Makes sense I guess, starting 23rd isn't much worse than starting 18th, he should be able to make up the spots fairly quickly.

It was mentioned in qualifying that because Hamilton changed his gearbox last race he'd get a free change this weekend should he decide to take it.

Isn't this the same gearbox he had troubles with in Australia?

i wouldn't discount webber for the win tomorrow, he seems to be able to make the tyres last quite well, think it'll be webber and vettel in no particular order with hamilton in third (again)

I have a feeling this is going to be a cracker of a race between Hamilton and Vettel and probably rosberg.Put Button in there too. Can't wait.
Button and Rosberg have an extra set of tyres and Hamilton is going to be hounding Vettel from the start of the race. Vettel could win this race but I'm personally banking on Button or Hamilton to win it.

Can't see RAI getting that high up to be honest, unless ROS & WEB have problems. He'd need to get past Grosjean as well.

Hope they give the track a thoroughly good sweep/clean, looks to be alot of marbles at the end of the GP2 race.
Surely they will before the race?Noticeable from the GP2 that the track hasnt been cleaned. Marbles everywhere off-line.

is it a big difference between dirty and clean starting places?
People struggled off the front row in both GP2 races

That's probably because RBRs were almost dead last in speed traps. I'm wondering though, why wouldn't he start from the pitlane, Turn1 is almost guaranteed accident.I'm surprised he's not afraid of slower cars, that according to Marko/Vettel are a major problem of F1 these days. That is when you can't overtake them and crash into them.

In the 1st GP2 race, the guy in P2 started out well. They guy in P4 was struggling to get off the line.People struggled off the front row in both GP2 races
No idea about the 2nd GP2 race.

Maybe they stopped doing it, deciding it was a nuance worth keeping.

At a guess, because he knows that even by turn 1 he'll have made up a few places, yes he could get involved in something, but at the same time, if he starts from the pitlane, he can't leave until the last car passes the end of the pitlane, and everyone will obviously be going a damn sight quicker than he'll be able to when he gets started. Yes it's a risk, but like I said, he'll make up a good number of places by the time they get out of the first few corners I'd imagine.

P4 was first in the first corner, whilst P2 struggled. P1 had a bad start too.
