Why is there no speculation about Schumacher going to another team?

Because according to James Allen, Schumacher has this week signed a one year extension with Mercedes.

May have something to do with Hamilton looking at other options ?

James also confirmed that Vettel has a complicated deal to go to Ferrari in 2014 with performance related clauses ( car performance, that is, not driver )

Except Massa, no other change will be made in the top teams line-ups and there's no need actually.

To think that a 4th place in the last GP suddenly makes people forget that his last good result was Korea 2010, 3rd place and might give him a renewal at Ferrari.... . He can be in top 10 for the next GP and still not deserve that seat. Just compare his results with his team-mate' results :p . I think Ferrari was patient and faithful with/to him enough and they need to find a new driver alongside Alonso.

massa will stay at ferrari. he is the ideal guiney pig during races... they use him as a test driver during races for alonso´s strategies to unfold... no other driver would prostitute himself like massa does. that is why massa is ideal.

mclaren losing lewis to lotus... so what? kimi or romain goes to mclaren. kimi was martin´s choice for 2009 but deal didnt work out. romain is superfast. mclaren got nothing to lose.

lewis can use some fresh air at lotus (or williams)

No way Lewis is leaving Mclaren and why would he? To go to Ferrari?... not as long as Alonso is there and I don't mean that they won't get along, but Ferrari is doing better with a clear no.1 driver, they've always had this policy (with few exceptions :p ).
Lewis to Lotus? Why would he go there, how can this movement be an improvement money-wise or carreer-wise? Lotus has a good car this year but it's no guarantee that they can keep the development to the big guys or have a good car in the next years.

The only way I see Lewis leaving Mclaren is when Vettel will leave for Ferrari, 2014 or beyond. For now he will stay at Mclaren and will win plenty races with them.

A one year deal for Lewis will be best. A long term tenure with Mclaren looks like a bad deal with doors opening at Ferrari and Mclaren for 2014 and Merc improving.

If this is true about Schu then why not announce it?

I also think the Vettel 2014 is BS. Alonso has galvanised that team. I know he was always connected to them before Alonso signed but since Alonso went there I cannot see it happening. Besides, why would Vettel leave?

Why is there no speculation about Schumacher going to another team?

I think Schumacher is past demanding a teammate beneath him. In that respect, he could easily end up at Ferrari or why not McLaren? Personally, I think the Merc project has failed to deliver. At least with those other two teams he's get a car that, if not great at season start, will be developed like crazy for the rest of the year.

Schumacher propably knows the importance of a building a team around himself. If he now changes teams, what are the odds that he will improve form? I think he is also eyeing post race career, and Mercedes would be a more logical home than Ferrari.

I think its obvious now that Massa will remain at Ferrari.

Look for Massa, Hamilton and Schumacher to all sign one year deals with their current teams.

Then its a free for all.

Why isnt there any speculation about Nico Hulkenberg's future ? I reckon the guy has performed quite well and has turned his game up a few notches in the last few races.

There's your reason. He has done nothing to stand out from the crowd.

I wouldnt be surprised to see Ferrari sign Massa on a one year deal and go after Webber again next year. If Webber wins the title this year, he wont think twice next time.

Maybe Mercedes wants to wait until Germany to make the announcement? They always make a special occasion of the German GP with VIP guests and stuff.

If Hamilton can bring in a big sponsor for a longer term project he might consider moving to a solid team and building them up. Sauber, Williams and even Force India have to be considerations if he can't come to terms with McLaren.

If Williams are looking to get ever closer to Renault they could be a good should especially considering the 2014 engine changes - where I suspect a few teams engine suppliers to change.

Maybe so.

Personally I think that Lewis does not want to be a new Ferrari "whipping boy".
He already knows what kind of "equality" the Ferrari teammate wants.

I also think that Webber and all other top drivers know exactly what to expect if they would be in the same team with the number1 driver Ferrari has right now.

Just think what happened with "equal" teammates, Trulli, Hamilton, Piquet and Grosjean!

So I think that if Massa does not continue with Ferrari, the new number2 will be one of the new kids.
:)

as long as it's silly season, i can hope that Schumacher, Massa, Senna will be gone from F1 forever. yes, and maybe Pic and Karthikeyan too.

Charles Pic is doing a splendid job for a rookie this year (so did d'Ambrosio last year), if anything: Pic deserves a shot with a better team; he is clearly very fast and Glock doesn't trash him (like he did with di Grassi at Virgin).

I wonder if Adrian Sutil will find a seat for 2013, if so at which team? I would personally love to see Jaime Alguersuari back but doubt it will happen soon.

Are any of the GP2 drivers threatening to break into F1 for next year? If so, it will be crowded for Sutil and Jaime to get back in especially if Bottas is on his way into Williams.

The GP2 field didnt look so impressive before the season and no one has impressed so far. Only Gutierrez has speed and strong sponsors (Same as Perez). Maybe Marussia will pick up the one that pays best (Razia?). Current leader Valsecchi it´s his 5th season (+ several GP2 asia season) and doesnt have Maldonado-backing so think if he wins it will be a new Pantano.

isn't Razia the current leader?
in the case of Gutierrez, I think it doesn't matter if he is average, good, or great, if there's an opening at sauber, he'll be the one to get it. 'curse' of the young driver programs.

Yeah, Razia overtook the lead last round. The young drivers need to have speed, not the fastest but atleast show that theyre good, they wouldnt take in Texeira and Serenelli for an example.

Formula Renault 3.5 grid looks far more interesting, think we can see a few of them in F1.

So true, that's how it works here.

On the other hand they were defending Massa based on his potential which they were thinking was no worse than realistic alternatives. Now that Webber is not an option it's even more true: Perez, DiResta? I don't think much changed after Silverstone.

F1 fans act like any other consumers, they want to see new product they expect to "better", like a washing powder that is EVEN whiter every year. That's the reason for: let's see Perez or Di Resta in a Ferrari. Count me in, that's what I want to see as well, that's why I wanted Grosjean instead of Heidfeld in 2011, although at the time it was an obvious choice.

You can argue about Massa but Schumacher must go, it's a dead end and I won't feel sympathy for Mercedes if they keep him. It's nice that he can have good performance here and there but on average these four seasons (four!) can't be called a success. It's not like he's going to get better in 2013.

Here's a thought...rumour has it that Hamilton wants a one-year deal, to ensure he is free if Red Bull call for 2014. Ferrari want a driver for one-year before Vettel joins them (if you believe this rumour). Would either/both parties consider this option? If Hamilton and Alonso do have problems like in 2007, then Hamilton will just leave at the end of 2012. If by some miracle they do get on, they could sign Hamilton up on a longer term deal after that.

A possibility?

Mallya hints race seat likely for Bianchi

“Let me put it this way,” Mallya told France’s Auto Hebdo when asked about 22-year-old Bianchi’s chances.
“All of our test drivers were fortunate enough to get a (race) seat, so why should it be any different now?”

That is interesting if we speculate about Hamilton's future.

So, one FI' driver goes somewhere else. What does is tell us? Di Resta@Mercedes and MS out? Or Hulk@Mclaren with Hamilton out?

Bunch of questions but like said, it goes back to two drivers, Hamilton and Schumacher. I don't see either leaving, but if they do, then Schumacher is back to retirement. Don't see him switching teams unless it's to Ferrari. I also don't see Hamilton leaving because the only truly competitive team with an opening is Ferrari, and well 2007 showed that Alonso doesn't like having teammates who are just as good (if not better) than him. Unless Hamilton wants to build a race team, Mercedes might be an option, but Hamilton seems to want another World Championship rather than building a "new" race team.

McLaren: Hamilton - Button
Ferrari: Alonso - Massa
Red Bull: Vettel - Webber
Mercedes: Rosberg - Schumacher
Sauber: Perez - Kobayashi
Lotus: Raikkonen - Grosjean
Force India: di Resta - Hülkenberg
Williams: Maldonado - Bottas
Toro Rosso: Ricciardo - Vergne
Caterham: Kovalainen - Petrov
HRT: de la Rosa - Clos
Marussia: Pic - Chilton

Why not Hulk@Ferrari? If they want to replace Massa, they need somebody who wants to play the second fiddle to Alonso. This can only be somebody who is past his best years (Heikki? Webber would have been such a choice as well) or somebody young, who might not only afford to wait a couple of years, but who might even think he stands a chance that he might look (relatively) good compared to Alonso. That might be Hulk.

Valtteri Bottas for williams, I have no link but it is an open secret that he is being prepared for a race seat.
also, Jules Bianchi for force india, link is about 5 posts back. also, it means one of the current drivers are likely to be contracted, or contacted by another team, possibly mercedes for MS' place, and/or mclaren for Lewis' place.
and Esteban Gutierrez for sauber, if ferrari takes Perez on.

I know it is a sort of captain obvious post, but we have to fill up the base post, right?

ps.: you got the no1 wrong :p (I know it is because of current standings)

I understand the need for consistency with a smaller team, but contracts in sports are pretty easily broken, so if things come up, I'd bet a driver with money would take the spots.

That's a strong possibility, autosport claims so as well. Would be nice to have Heikki alongside Alonso, Heikki is fast over one lap and developed on racedistances as well on his time at Caterharm.

That is bloody ridiculous.

Kovalainen has already driven for a top team, and was far worse than Massa compared to his team-mate!

He knows how to drive but comparing the backmarkers Glock deserves the chance for a top drive more, as he has never had one.

Now assume Kobayashi is going to be dumped by Sauber to make room for Bianchi, he would be a far far far far (got it?) better choice for a one year deal at Ferrari warming Vettel's seat. Sooo much more potential to prove than Kova... Kova already has his chance. Kobayashi is a lightyears better choice than Kovalainen IMO. (If Kova is slow not remarkable, if Koba is slow or matches Alonso well then finally we will find out the talent of the Japanese superstar, there is a suspicion he could be surprising good still IMO)

That is bloody ridiculous.

Kovalainen has already driven for a top team, and was far worse than Massa compared to his team-mate!

no he wasn't worse, not even close...Heikki was a match for Lewis (who is considered one of the fastest over one lap) in qualifyings but that was almost always hidden because of much heavier fuel load, in races he did struggle at that time but it was mainly because he had to use setups that didn't work with his driving style and he did destroy his tyres because of that but since then he has developed hugely on that area.

He even beated Jarno Trulli who was considered as well to be one of the fastest drivers over one lap and same goes for Fisichella when at Renault and now he is beating Petrov with as big margin as Kubica did and Petrov has developed a lot since he was team mate with Kubica...
