I'm so sorry to hear this,a nice man who gave a lot to motorsport both as a driver and a true enthusiast.
Paul was also a foundation member of the Rolls Royce owners club of Australia, former President and a life member of that club.
A great Bentley enthusiast.

Sorry to wake up to this news, though it wasn't unexpected

I first met him when he raced the Lotus 15 in NZ in (I think) 1984, then in ensuing years when he used to spend his summers with the car in Europe, though I knew his name from his earlier racing. He was always courteous and friendly and a great ambassador for Australia

Sad news indeed

Paul helped introduce me to Aussie Historic Racing and I was delighted to have him to stay for a couple of days with us in the UK to reciprocate the hospitality. I envy his memory for names, it was awesome. A true gentleman.

I echo David's sentiments. Sorry to hear this news. I first met Paul when he brought his Lotus 15 to Silverstone to race in one of the early 1950s Sytner sports car races and found him quite charming and happy to share his knowledge with a humble club racing reporter. Subsequently I learned how influential and supportive he was of racing in his homeland and discovered what a thoroughly worthy individual he was.

One wonders where Wakefield Park would be today had he not been forced to sell...

Paul created the place, but had a difference of opinion with his partner in the project and put it on the market to assess its value. But once it was on the market and a buyer came forward, he had to sell.

A genuine enthusiast, one only has to look at what Wakefield Park was created for to see that.

Goodbye 'Sartorial Sam'...

Yes RIP Paul, he will always be remembered for Wakefield Park - huge achievement. I don't have any pics of him but will always remember seeing him having an absolute ding dong battle at Eastern Creek in 1996 (?). While many of the others seemed to be pootling around, Paul and his combatant were going seriously quickly. His Lotus 15 was immaculate too.
