McLaren debuted the season with the fastest car on the track. They got outdeveloped. They have now only just debuted their big package which has only just allowed them to catch back up. Based on this I doubt they have anything worthwhile in laptime.Any word on the F1 grapevine about what the upgrades will be?
I still don't understand how McLaren lost such a big development lead, though part of me thinks some of it was down to focussing heavily looking for technical reasons why Button only managed 4 pts in 6 races.

I doubt it will rain. Going to be hot though. So far, it only rained(past week was the same forecast or worse) early in the morning, late in the afternoon, sometimes at night, and not heavily either. Really felt chokingly humid too.I higly doubt it will rain on sunday. As the weather I have today will be over Budapest on Sunday.

McLaren really, really need a big result this weekend. A 1-2 would be amazing, and would really help eat into the points advantage of the others combined.

Awesome start. Hope it continues...

FP1: McLarens look quick, as often on a Friday, likewise Alonso. Red Bull surprisingly slow. Is that anything to do with rule change?

Good first session. Worked on setup & then long run. Car feels good, will try to make it better. Back in room & changing before debrief.

Who?
I don't know, but there's something new on the rear wing. I'm on a very sloooow connection just now, so I haven't been able to open a bigger pic, to see what it reads.
There's always a possibility it could also be the same company who has Lucozade under their wings, promoting a different brand this weekend.

It's maximuscle isn't it? Which is also part of GlaxoSmithKline, they presumably want to advertise them now instead of Lucozade (also belongs to them).

And in usual McLaren fashion, they will make changes to the awesome Friday setup and screw everything up in FP3/Q.

It's a tyre thing, not a car thing though. We need to understand the tyres better (as RBR and Ferrari have done). Surely that is achievable. It is sad to know that we are weak in wet conditions. We have been one of the best in wet conditions in the past years but this year for whatever reason we are nowhere near red bull or ferrari

That is probably not totally fair. The car is inconsistent in wet conditions as we saw at Silverstone and Hockenheim. The car seemed for example to be the fastest on intermediate tires at Hockenheim.

Mclaren put more time into developing an upgrade to win them their home GP, but the rain scuppered that plan, I reckon a dry Silverstone weekend and the pace we have seen in Germany and today in FP1 would have been evident at Silverstone also.
I actually think the car still has some optimisation to go yet to get full benefit from all these recent upgrades, if it stays dry they will nail a great setup for this weekend.
Only rain can spoil the party.
All roads point to Mclaren being back at the top IMO.

Mclaren planned a big upgrade for Silverstone to win their home GP, the rain screwed them, I remember Whitmarsh saying they were winging it setup wise because of not having chance to test the bits in dry conditions.Silverstone spec car was the old spec no?
Mclaren have brought alot of new bits the last 3 races, now we are seeing them getting chance to optimise those updates and you are seeing genuine pace in the dry, fast last week, fast this week.
