Thanks DMN, might have a look at a few older races if I get the time. But I don't suppose Sky plan on showing any races older than the nineties?

The exact same thing was spouted as if fact this time last year - and yet here we are 12 months on......

Here we are twelve months on with the F1 channel discontinued for new HD customers. They've done half the job so far.

Haven't seen it mentioned anywhere in the schedule from Sky so I did a bit of Googling and the Press Conference for Australia is at 11pm on Thursday, 2 hours before Practice 1 if anyone wants to know.

This is awesome, why did they not do more if this last year? They only seemed to show classic races of Monaco and Silverstone.

What I'd like to see for tracks where there's been less than 10 races, is classic races on tracks that are no longer used (eg maybe an Imola race, A1 Ring, Magny Cours, Zandvoort, Jerez, Estoril, etc).

I thought it was supposed to be live on Sky F1 at 11PM GMT on Thursday? This is not the case then? I thought the conferences were always live on their first scheduled showing...

As for these re-run races they've been doing, is it just me who's not been paying attention or are these cut to **** highlights?

They are live, and it is at 4AM GMT on Thursday on Sky F1.

It's not really 'shit highlights', still at least 90% of the race - the only bits that are cut out are the bits with lack of commentary from Murray/Martin due to ITV going to breaks.

It's 5 races per week - I think Sky did a good choice with Australia. No need to go with the obvious ones in my opinion.

Good choices for those whose interest in Grand Prix dates back no further than the mid 1990's I suspect. If anything, the races selected are nothing but the screaming obvious designed for the playstation generation enthusiast and nobody else.

Still, lets give them time. With the deal they have with Bernie, I assume they have access to every single race in full since 1981 and perhaps even prior to that.

I hope at some stage they will think outside of the box and realise there were truly brilliant GP before the 1990's.

Agree apart from 2007. It was very boring if I remember correctly. Or might of just been me adapting to the first race without Schumacher.

So through out last year people are complaining that sky are not showing classic races and then they start showing them and people still complain. We only even know the choices for the first 2 races. I assume with Australia they wanted to show races from the track they are actually racing on (Melbourne) rather than Adelaide. So dont make a judgement like this until we get to a race where there have been races for ages e.g. Monaco.

You say that but actually you can! BBC often show old races (including ones from the 80's) on the BBC Red Button channel, often before practice sessions.

The very rarely show races before 1981 because the rights are not part of FOM's archive.

Be glad you have a dedicated F1 channel like that, the UK is probably the one country to have that.

My main criticism with sky is their trashy PF1 style journalism on their website. What with the BBC guys being descredited by everyone here, sky have a good opportunity to establish themselves as serious experts and journos and get many looking at their website. ESPN and Autosport seem like the main sources of news to me this year, at least. It is a shame as sky have some good insights.

Though many wish he simply wouldn't bother, period. BTW theres a couple of new Gary Anderson vids up on the bbc site, one is the now de-rigeur mercedes car backpedelling, the other is a fairly good introduction to the way F1 car aero works. For absolute beginners though.

I don't know why the British media is so SO obsessed with Lewis, no one can deny he's not a damn good racer but still theres several other British drivers and if they want to be heavily biased with British drivers, why focus on just one?

Awful. Typical Sky though. I didn't watch any of the pre-show (bar this part obviously and the display of how ridiculously large the Sky f1 team is shortly after) and fast-forwarded straight to the action. Didn't fancy wasting time listening to the wooden Damon Hill or that clown Lazenby.

Really not a fan of Natalie Pinkham and she's all over the Sky coverage.

It's all still too much style over substance - as indicated by how much more they prefer talking about things like driver helmets rather than car developments.
