Also on mediums! But a few minutes earlier (dunno whether this has much to say).

Did RoGro use mediums! I am a litte bit confused (also coz we have no live timing).

Anyway as the rain is threatening the whole weekend I would just take a chill pill. Kimi´s times are looking good but we dunno anything about the fuel load.
Hope that the rain wont **** up our chances like it did last year

Yes, Romain used mediums. Kimi was faster on hards than Romain on mediums.

According to Turun Sanomat, Kimi is in his best physical shape ever, even at the press confrence they talked that Kimi looks to be in top shape physically. After melbourne race Kimi went to the gym at kuala lumpur and he should have played badminton with Vettel but that was cancelled because Seb had other priorities ..

The undercut has been there? Atleast it is in the Romain's car. Also I think that is the old exhaust, because the new is SHINY(?)

The photo was dated yesterday and it is the first time I have seen a non-chrome outlet (with the exception of the very first coanda running weekend in 2012) which is why I thought it was new? (as well as the sweep towards the base looks longer and again a different material?

If he has a bad race everybody will call him unfit and fat again :cat: Then again I think in 2009 he looked the most fittest but it might be coz he had to lose some weight and was thinner overall (which doesnt have to mean that he was fitter)

That is one sweet looking car! Kimi's helmet matches it perfectly. That looks like a championship car to me.

I know i know, waaaaaay too early to tell, but if Lotus takes another win this weekend, it'll take one or two more races for some top pilots and teams (not mentioning anyone, but we all know who's whining when things don't come their way) to insinuate stuff about the car... (i already read ride height adjustment trick rumours here and there)

At the moment, what the press is beginning to take is that the other teams think Lotus has tyre advantage because Pirelli uses an old Lotus for testing:

I'm a bit baffled by Lotus's (especially Kimi's) long run times at the end of FP1. Doesn't look like their normal program as they were miles faster than Merc and RBR guys. Either its an unusual fuel load or they are a bit too fast.

option tyres
We are still losing big time in S2

The E21 were second fastest in S2 and S3 just behind the RBR in FP1.

Rain is the one big problem, Lotus still doesn't look that good in the rain. Ferrari looked super fast in the wet. Things are looking good if the conditions can stay dry. But I dont want to get head of myself.

Their tyres are just in much better shape, I think. Atleast it isn't totally about the fuel. And in FP1 (when timing worked), Lotus was so consistent on long runs and their times didn't drop very fast.

Ferrari came to the track later than Lotus so their tyres was in better conditions when track was drying all the time....Lotus don't look to be the fastest on wet but not too bad either and I doubt they were on similar fuel load.

Actually from wha i've seen, kimi was faster than anyone elsein wet as well. Wet, inter tyres were going ok,
The car seems to have tyre advantage, has good one lap and long pave, looks good in both wet and dry conditions

no not really, even Grosjean did similar/bit better times than Kimi...althought Kimi's times were more consistent and he was always lap behind on track...Ferraries were much better than others but they came few laps later to the track.

This was the first time Kimi has topped practise times since 2009.

Does this idiot have a website or a twitter account? If yes, time to laugh at him hard.

Anyone got a comprehensive analysis of the wet times? Surely looking much better than last year. About Grosjean being faster: if I'm correct Massa was also faster than Alonso in the wet, so it's not the end of the world. The most important thing for Lotus' championship campaign is that there is still a good chance of strong point finishes even in the wet, that was unthinkable with the E20.

I don't remember a team not being able to give equal cars to team-mates at such an early point in the season before?
I mean I understand later in the season when development is trickier and squashed into the short gaps between races but I'm surprised Lotus are in that situation at the start

People seem to forget that Kimi sacrificed several FP's last year for the DRD. In Melbourne, they shared the testing of the new parts, bad luck for RG that the rain came in during FP3. And even if he was disadvantaged, so what, RB and Ferrari do it, too, and Räikkönen is their man for the championship. Big deal.

they have to test updates seperately to get data from both, new and old packages.

from BBC Sport:

Williams development driver Susie Wolff, acting as a BBC analyst on Friday, said: "It is clear Raikkonen is on a roll this weekend - second in P1, fastest in P2 and fastest in the wet as well.

"Everything is where we expected from first practice. Everyone is in roughly the same order as Australia.

"Lotus are quick, as are Ferrari and Red Bull and I think it will come down to tyre management on Sunday.

Grosjean is learning, after all it's only his second full season in F1 and he is against a WDC.

I do think that Grosjean is learning, improving his racecraft and so on.

yes Kimi tested DRD and lost lot of practise time because of it, didn't show too much in his performances but he said it did effect a bit. Maybe Lotus is more happy about Kimi's feedback and that's why bigger things are been tested with him as he has the experience.

Tell this to Damon Hill, David Coulthard, Mika Hakkinnen,Alonso,Hulkenberg, Sheckter (or even Kimi Raikkonnen).

Just look to the number of races in F1 for RoGro and compare to the rest of the top 10 in 2012. Oh wait....

And.... the witch-hunt begins!!

Kimi got the updates BECAUSE he is can MAXIMIZE them with his setup. Honestly, one will be joking if they think Grosjean is/was capable of dominating/beating Alonso & Vettel in Melbourne. Add to that, Lotus' needs to maximize their status with performances due to being handicapped on financial situations. It's pretty stupid if they produce/rush parts for both drivers and lose out bothering about updates for Grosjean first.

Grosjean has himself gotten stuck here thanks to his poor performances in 2012, and lost the right to be considered otherwise over Kimi Raikkonen. When Grosjean was doing well... he got updates first at a particular period last year over Kimi. So he needs to catch up first... which is important if team needs to achieve it's targets.

I think the team is not very 'amused' by Grosjean at the moment... (considering this is leading to bad publicity because of RoGro crying 'somethings wrong with his car'..

Grosjean is a whiner (translated by Nicole)
http://www.mtv3.fi/u.../2009/10/967040

Rookie-driver Romain Grosjean has got a negative reputation on the F1-paddock because of his behavior, MTV3:s F1-expert Jyrki Järvilehto tells.

- We have heard quite many things about Grosjean being a real whiner. He whines, complains and says that things aren’t working the right way. They have disliked it very much in Renault’s circles. He has said that he doesn’t have the same machinery and that he hasn’t got everything he would have needed, Järvilehto told.

Looks like Grosjean can`t really trust the car and i don't think the updates will help him that much (i can be wrong). He knows that he has to deliver and not make mistakes. Like the off he had in FP2 doesn't make him more confident more the opposite i think and on top on that you have kimi banging in the times over and over again it cant be easy for Grosjean at the moment. I am a really big kimi fan ( been watching F1 for more then 20years ) but i hope Grosjean gets he`s act together for his own and the teams sake.
