Alright let's get the emotion out of the way, and also the assumptions shall we.
Whose property is the car? Redbulls
Who has the right to do whatever they want with said property? Redbull
Who said a car launch must be streamed? No one I know of and teams aren't obligated to do so.
Who has the right to control their IP anyway they see fit? Redbull
Journo's whining about restrictions is what they always do, and if anyone believes that McLaren just gave free access to their car without a brief on can and cannot s they've kidding themselves.
End result this thread got derailed by haters looking for an excuse to troll because they have nothing better to do, Redbull haven't been the only team to suffer this rubbish.
It's a F1 not the Ipad 5 we have pics we will have more info I am sure, it will go around in circles in a few days, but the must have it right now twitter generation simply have no patience and their sense of entitlement makes me want to throw them in the weeds for a few weeks to sort their priorities out. The shelter, water, food app won't help them is all I can say.
Now back to the car, paint looks great, there are a lot of details that are different, how they all inter relate will be a few days coming I gather.
Order of Merit for sweet looking rides IMO
McLaren, great looking car
Ferrari
Redbull for paint
Sauber for paint and style
Lotus
The rest.......
Comparing the launch of a new F1 car to an iPad is silly, for one thing, when Apple launches a new device, it allows the press to have hands on access and there are no blocks on what can be photographed/filmed.
The victim of this stunt today (and to a lesser degree the Mercedes farce) are the fans - 'us' - as like the rest of you, I have been waiting all week to see this car. It is likely to be the class of the field and I am interested to see what Newey has been up to. As I said before, the press are there to feed the fans information - and the fans feed the sport with sponsors. So, what do I walk away with today about the RB9? Its purple and has an odd nosecone...
Now, compared to the McLaren launch - this is utter crap, amateur hour stuff. Total disregard for the fans of the sport, and those of its own team. The car will be on track in a couple of days, the other teams who will have photographers all around the circuit will know every aero inch of the car by Friday. Yet it will be us the fans who yet again remain mostly in the dark. As many have said, not holding a launch would have been better than this.
Emotion aside, you have to ask yourself why do you care about a team which seems to care so little about you?
