Dean Jeffries died at age 80. He was one of the pioneers of hot rodding, doing
chop tops, body mods and then pin striping, candy apple paint, rival of George Barris and Gene Winfield. He also helped Shely paint the first Cobra, not once but many times to make people think Cobras were just flowing out of California. During the Cobra era he hornswoggled a GT40 roadster out of Ford who thought he would get it into a film; as he was a stunt driver as well. He took several decades to restore it, but insisted on putting in a 4-cam V8 Indy engine
to prove that was the engine Ford should have gone with. He showed the car at Ford's 100th anniversary in 2004. There's a picture of the car without its body on Motor Trend Classic's website

Built one of my favorite TV cars the Monkeemobile and the Mantaray, which turns out to have started life as a GP Maserati !

Condolences to Dean Jeffries family and friends RIP.
