As part 1 (here - http://forums.autosp...amp;start=3880) is virtually at capacity, I'm being pro-active and starting Part 2 here.

Please continue on, and good luck for the race!

Lets hope we don't have a part 3 by the end of the race! :drunk:

lol at people blaming the dog. Lewis looks in the best shape I have seen in his career. Every new team takes a while to acclimatise to. Remember 2010, where some were asking Ferrari to let Alonso go after a mediocre first half. :rotfl:
Kimi in 07 was also much better in the second half of the season, and same in 2012. Ditto Alonso when he moved to McLaren. (don't want to start that again though). There is every reason Hamilton will improve a lot as the season goes by, and don't think this slow start has anything to do with a puppy, butsmething natural which happens to all the greats.

But we also shouldn't take away from Rosberg, he has been fire these past few races.

Most certainly points to Nico this week, some great controlled driving.

But the gap is bigger that it should be.

Quoting my two comments from Thursday:

Nico is a clear winner so far and my favourite for pole and race win. Faster over a single lap and looked more comfortable and faster in long runs, especially in the last part where he was quite a lot faster than Lewis.

As we have already seen many times this year FP2 is very important, it's usualy a great indicator for each teams and drivers race pace. Lewis pace looked bad in Spain FP2 and it was the same in the race. If Nico grabs pole which I'm pretty sure he will, then Lewis has absolutely no chance to win because Nico will be the one to pit first and Lewis will be attacked from behind by other guys, he can only go backwards while Nico has a great chance to stay 1st.

If I'm going to be wrong I will eat my own words but I'm pretty sure if a Merc will be on pole it will be Nico and he will benefit from it.

I was right almost about everything, but I thought Lewis would be slower, he was totaly on Nico's level (would really love to se this race without the SC) but saddly very unlucky, 2nd should be totaly his!

The question today is how Hamilton lost second place. What happened, who screwed up. Instead of taking points of Vettel he lost them. Why?

LH dropped back by his own accord. I don't think he did anything wrong, pure common sense to avoid queuing, but unfortunately the Red Bulls had been released from behind the SC. Obviously with that knowledge you wouldn't do that, and I've no idea if it would have made a difference if he hadn't anyway.

Overall, a great victory by Rosberg who has been untouchable all weekend.

Well, he came in when Rosberg drove away, better like standing there with a very hot car.
Problem is WTF Whiting let the RBR's past the SC.

UNLUCKY.

Even if he was on the a** of rosberg,i think he would lose at least one position, because Red Bulls were flat out.

I could be more happy, but i could be angry now if Lewis was Raikkonen,on the end of the day... good day.

It was a great win for Nico but that was valuable points squandered by Lewis. For goodness sake, he had just set the fastest lap when the SC came out. What on earth happened to Lewis to let the Red Bulls past? It was very annoying and frustrating, because Lewis had no chance after that. Lewis can't afford to lose points like that. So very mixed emotions for me at the moment... :|

Not since Alonso has anyone got near to Hamilton on out and out pace but Rosberg has been Lewis's match, if not more this season, hugely impressive, if he keeps this up its time to acknowledge him as a "tier 1" driver with HAM/VET/ALO. Brilliant job, frankly.

Also, i though Nico wouldn't get near to him, words currently being eaten!!

the 2 RB were already behind ROS.

I've watched it back. Hamilton hit the box 4-5 seconds after Rosberg left. He definitely could have timed it better, but I don't think it would have made a difference. Either the Red Bull was too fast around the delta, or both Mercs were too slow, and it caught Hamilton out. My guess is Mercs too slow.

Great race by Nico. 10/10 for the weekend. I think Lewis messed up his 2nd place with the 1st SC -- a laps in concentration, methinks....?

Rosberg was superb today, Lewis so unlucky, SC let the Red Bulls much faster than normal and they must have sped round as well (probably too fast but we will never know cause its Red Bull)

I really wish Hamilton had slotted in 2nd after the SC, it would have been so interesting to see what he could have done, because he looked very racey. Him and Rosberg were just controlling in the 1st stint. But we'll never know.

owning... really? Less than a tenth in quali and the SC extinguished any chance that Hamilton had.

Qualifying: 3-3
Race: 3-2 (excluded Malaysia because it's a close call).

I was saying it all the time before the season started, watch out for Nico, he might suprise many people. He isn't really owning Lewis, they are pretty much on the same level, one day is one faster another day the other.

Fair enough. What about the first 3 GPs and the 4th race, where Rosberg was "owned" by Lewis?

Rosberg currently HAS the momentum, on the back of his 3 poles (really 1 pole, because the other two were meaningless due to the useless race pace) and race win... that's fair to say, but to say owning is a bit strong. Alonso is owning Massa, RAI is owning GRO... but ROS is not owning HAM - if so, then PER is owning BUT big time considering he's starting at McLaren.

Yes, but Lewis had the same situation in 2010 and he bounced back. But I have just seen him being interviewed on Sky and he looked very miserable, and Johnny Herbert said he has been looking "a bit down" all weekend. I must admit I'm a bit worried...I really don't want another 2011. Lewis badly needs a good result in Canada.

Hamilton's demeanor frustrates me so much. He blames everything on himself, and today it was nothing to do with him. He says he was told to keep a 6 second gap (Toto didn't mention this,) Hamilton actually kept a 5 second gap. Sky are playing it up as his error, but the error was the speed of Rosberg, because he always limited Hamilton. But in the words of Hamilton himself, driving to deltas behind safety cars and being overtaken due to strange technicalities - that's motor racing.

I never really could figure out where Nico rated as a driver but he has been impressive. I expect Lewis will have the upper hand at Canada but we shall see how it turns out.

If their was no mistake how come Hamilton lost 2nd places.
If their was no mistake how come RedBull managed to gain a place for both of their drivers.

It's simply Mercedes should have covered Webber. But instead they waited and lost.

You mean two DNFs and the Malaysia team order where a faster Rosberg wasn't allowed to overtake Hamilton?

I don't expect a lot from Hamilton anymore this season. Even a 2nd today would have seriously helped his championship, it would have properly tightened up.

Did you expect him to look happy? :)

Anyway in 2011 people were all over his back and saying his career was over.
I did see a very racey Lewis today.
His fight with VET in the first laps, and WEB later on, proved he still has it.

He will fight back.
_
The problem is VET. he keeps collecting points left and right.
I am afraid he is now too far ahead for everyone.

If they'd done that and Vettel jumped him - which is very likely, Rosberg was the fastest man on the track after Webber pitted - you'd be screaming about the team mistake.

It is not a 2011 situation. He is not letting any frustration induce him into reckless driving. Nico is just faster right now, and at a place like Monaco there is very little that can be done to overcome a team-mate who has a better grid position, giving priority in the pits and then has no problems. I wouldn't be surprised if it is the other way around in Canada, and if it is I wouldn't expect Nico to be too downhearted.
