Just think, they paid them to write it. I just checked, but I can't find the belt that drives my engine, the one that holds my trousers up, but not the one that turns my crankshaft.

From Christina Macfarlane and Rachel Wood

I think one of them is belt driven and the other by her own exhaust steam...

I can't wait to see how F1 teams design the cars to cope with all the extra grip on those steep angles. I'll be writing some articles on this and I'm sure Scarbs will to!

Ladies and gentlemen, hold onto your hats and behold ... the "Yellow Teapot Journalism?"

FTFT. Although it usually takes some sort of understanding of the subject matter to produce truly effective yellow journalism.

LOL. I'm not sure what my favorite quote from the article is. It's between that one, the belt/steam quote, and the following which implies that turbo engines simultaneously cause underbody sparks and shred tires:

"And as turbo development increased, the circuit was transformed into a rev-head's heaven, with showers of sparks and shredded tires from the gutsy new cars."

It appears that only one change has been made since the piece first appeared: the byline has been removed. So long, Christina and Rachel.

I don't know about that. This has summer interns written all over it.

CNN edited the article and cut out the 'belt and steam' paragraph, they ruined it!

Bahahahaha!

I feel bad for those two women but this seems to be not unlike most news you read. If you know anything about the situations being discussed, you're often left shaking your head wondering what the hell they're talking about or where they received their information. This is a wonderful example.

After digesting the information for a while I got it. Someone explained the difference between a blower and a turbo to them.

They got it.

Someone forgot to explaini those go attached to and engine though.

If you replaced steam with gas, the turbo explanation morphs into something you'd identify,

Of course, there's not a single human being at Jalopnik who would know which end of a screwdriver to point at a bicycle, but this gives them a moment to feel superior to a couple of art majors.

If you're talking about EGR, that's hardly a general description of how turbos work.

Turbos don't run off the engine's exhaust gas?

That's not how I'm reading the quote. Sure the turbo does, but the engine does not.

The latter certainly follows the CNN formula of being attractive with perfect teeth over any kind of journalistic integrity or quality.
