I always thought it was a Tim Parnell carOriginally posted by Mattthecat
There are some discrepancies regarding the entrant for Andre Pilette's Lotus in the 1963 German GP.
Some sources list it as Tim Parnell, others as Pilette himself.
That car (Lotus 18 917) seemed to have belonged to
Parnell in the early season. Was it then bought by Pilette maybe? Hence the confusion?

Yes, I was wrong in my old post!
From memory, Teddy started as an Abarth test-driver with another belgian whom I think was Mauro.

I have no idea as all I have are pictures.
Here is one I found in the archive with "Paul Emery" written on the back but I have no ideas who those people are.

I wonder what happened to that caravan:)
By the way, has Andre ever told you about his Le Mans race with Pedro?
I was too young when he passed away and I never got to talk about his racing past.

No, it never came up because I didn't know it then. André teamed up with Ricardo Rodriguez for the 1960 Le Mans 24H under NART banner. They finished second as you'll know. Pedro drove, well he never got to drive because the car ran out of fuel during the first stint with Scarfiotti, a factory entered 250TR.

Emery looks to have a BRDC badge on his blazer. Does anyone recognize that rather oversized one that "Benny from ABBA" and the chap next to Emery are wearing? Looks like it would sit better on a team rally jacket than a blazer!Originally posted by Graham Gauld
Reference the photo, Paul Emery is the man on the extreme right of the rear row. The man on the extreme left, bottom row, looks like Peter Jopp. The guy on the right bottom row looks like Benny from ABBA.

The guy on the left with the beard is Martin Hone, one time owner of the Opposite Lock Club in Birmingham. The badges on the blazers are the logo of the Club. Suggest the photo may have a tie up with a Racing Car show held at the NEC.

I have a little detail relating to one car in David McKinney's extensive 2001 list of 'Pilettemobiles' - apologies if you know already. The Interserie McLaren M8E/D (80-08), raced by Teddy in 1971, was (I think) the fearsome machine driven later by Kaye Griffiths in Led Zeppelin and Glamour International livery, always a great attraction at the Racing Car Show. As DM states, the car went eventually to America and is now, I believe, owned and raced by the Moritz family, father and son (both called Jules) of Oregon and California. The son, Jules Moritz III, has been researching the car's history and the results and newsletter make an enjoyable read.

I'm not very good at including links so, if this doesn't work, try Googling 'Moritz McLaren' and you'll find it.

Teddy raced the Lola Mk2 chassis number BRJ1 twice in 1962. Initially it was run a a Team Fitzwilliam Racing car at the BARC Championship race at Goodwood on 24 March 1962 as car #26. Teddy came in 16th.
On 31 March 1962 in the Commander Yorke Trophy race at Silverstone the car (as #19) was entered by Ecurie Mille Miglia from Knokke Le Zoute in Belgium. In this race Teddy came in 6th.
I have a number of photos of Teddy and the Lola in both events.
