The Bois de Boulogne in Paris saw four meetings held in the years 1945/1946/1947:
1. the famous one with three races on 9.9.1945
2. a “Criterium” on 30.5.1946 for GP cars
3. Coupes and GP du Salon on 6.10.1946 with a GP car race
4. Coupes de Paris on 27.7.1947 for voiturettes

Maps for the circuits used for 1. and 4. are easy to find. 1. was essentially between Porte de la Muette and Porte Dauphine, 4. was essentially around the Longchamps horse race track, in a completely different corner of the Park.

I am asking to be directed to maps for the circuit used for the meetings 2. and 3. From descriptions for 2. it should have been between Porte Dauphine and Porte Maillot. The start-finish line (Porte Maillot) for 2. and 3. is the same from photographic evidence, but the length of the circuits that I have been able to find are different.

This is map 1 of Alessandro's list. I'd also be interested to see the other three.

Rémi Paolozzi has written a nice then-and-now article on the significance of Bois de Boulogne. You can find it here at 8W.

I don't know if either of these 2 are relevant. One is called Bois de Boulogne while the other is actually called Longchamps. AFAICR Longchamps is pretty close to the Bois de Boulogne.

Barry, great finds!

If you read Rémi's article you'll find that Bagatelle is indeed part of Bois de Boulogne and now hosts an annual concours d'élégance.

There was a 1951 race in the Bois de Boulogne too, so this must be the place.

Credit must go to Roger Clark for shelling out large numbers of £££££s to buy the Gordini book - and then even more for letting me borrow it!
