Got to be a long-defunct kart circuit up North somewhere - Church Fenton or somewhere?

Moss up north for a novelty event in the very early 60s? No, this couldn't have been closer to his doorstep.

Hyde Park then ...

A race round the Serpentine?

No, as I said, closer to his doorstep...or at least his father's at that time, perhaps.

So, is this actually a motorsports venue? Or is it, perhaps, the scene of some equestrian event? (Not sure why you'd have ''pits'' though...)

It's Long Marston , only a mile or two from Tring. I saw Moss drive a Keele kart with a 200c Bultaco...as fast as karts came in 1961. More than a mower race. He gave just the same magnificent show that he would have done at Silverstone , Goodwood, everywhere. Same style, same straight arm panache. The fact that he would turn up at something like this and still have to be the best, have to put on the best show, was not lost on me at the time.

The little circuit quickly vanished. Mike Keele prepared some of Moss's cars I think (the Lotus 19 ?) and died fairly recently.

:) Although nowdays, in ridiculously PC times, I guess those three Ks on logo would be frowned upon... :

Why?

The Ku Klux Klan was even more active then than today...

By the way, Wolfie, did you know that Stirl raced lawnmowers?

On the first account, yes I know, but nowdays it would be inappropriate (or whatever) because 'righteous indignation' would prevent the protestors from realizing 'Three Kounties Kart Klub' has nothing to do with Klan and is not racist organization (not that it would stop them, anyway)...

On second account, no I didn't; but why doesn't it surprise me?
