Hi all - I have a answer from Robert Stec (PL) regarding this picture:
"On Your photo from Albena (car in last row, behind number 23) there is a Promot from 1969 year, with Fiat
1500 engine, chassis number 26/69, driven by Jozef Kielbania."

Just a quick note - I have just returned home after two weeks in Albena.
I walked a lap of the track. I will show some photos once I settle down back here.
Generally - it looks not much hanged here since 1980s

I have to check this, but I think he first took part in a rally as early as 1948.But it's in any way remarkable.

I am trying to convince them to do this, but I doubt any of them will come this year.Have we any hope to see him (and other Polish drivers) in Riga at the Dzintara Volga in September?

Dear all,
I found this old topic while I searched information on my racecar. Nowadays I own the racecar of Andras Gergely, which was built in '86 or '88 - I' not sure.
I'm looking for any information, photos of the car, so if anybody has some more in his archives, please post it here, or contact me in PM.
Alexey Rogachev linked a page, with more photos on this car (http://www.racinghis...Riga/index.html) but unfortunately I didn't find anything there...
Has somebody archived these photos before they lost?
Also, if anybodys interested, I'll gladly share some photos on current state of the car.
I found an old advertisement here: http://www.race-cars...098698577ss.htm
It seems the car was modified somewhere in the past, the chassis is longer, this means the fairing is modified also, the small wing over the gearbox has disappeared, the fairing over the instrument panel has a small bulge, but this is the same car definitely.

Hi
If you are interested in post-war racing behind Iron Curtain, this short blog entry may be of interest:

With deepest regret I inform that polish racing driver Jacek Szmidt passed away on August 12th, 2016, aged 66. He was two times Polish Champion (1978 - Formula Polonia and 1991 - Formula Easter) and he was placed third in 1981 Cup of Friendship (Formula Easter). During his career he raced a Promot 75, Metalexes 1-03 and 1-06 and Estonia 25. He was survived by his wife, two adult daughers and two granddaughters. He was burried on a cemantery in Trębki (18 kms nort-east of Kutno).

Is it indeed a TNF classic?
Grzegorz, sad news, but fortunately you have done much to preserve Polish racing history of the eighties, including Jacek Szmidt's story, in your book.
