Thanks for the dates.

Unfortunately the library in Lisbon would not allow you to do your own photocopying, unlike the Biscaretti or MBenz. If the date was not included in the photocopied report and I failed to make a note I would be in the predicament I am now!

There was a race at the Parque Edward VII at the beginning of July 1934 and after the Vila Real race ( 18/6, with which I agree )? And there was an earlier race at the Parque on 4 June 1934? I don't think there was a race in the park in 1933. What do you think?

The II GP Estoril was scheduled for 15/8 but it may have been postponed to 5/9?

The 1931 and 1933 Porto race dates look right as does the 1932 Vila Real date.

Still require a date for the Vila Real race of 1932; June the what?

Also the person who did the copying at Lisbon must have missed a few pages as I have no report on the 1932 Boa Vista race although I know it happened. My marking slips of paper must have fallen out but I did write the page numbers and month of issue on them.

On the other hand now I believe the 1935 GP Estoril was the I Circuito not II? At least an official ACP journal report has Francisco Ribeiro Ferreira winning the I GP Estoril in a Bugatti in 1:59' 39.4 ( 92.810 klm de media ). But again these sheets are not dated.

Can you confirm one way or the other?

The first 'Circuito do Estoril' took place in 1925

1925! Are you sure? The ACP report which clearly titles the report as the I Circuito do Estoril has Ferreira in a 35B Bugatti, Mendes in a Alfa Romeo 8C-2600 "Monza" etc.

No I'm not 100% sure - but 90%
The race was held in October 1925, and won by Carlos Eduardo Bleck in a Bugatti
Ferreira won the second race, ten years later, in a T51 Bugatti

Oh dear ( or words to that effect! ), following a check through my 1925 files I have no record whatsoever. Do you have any times or number of laps to confirm it was a race and not a sprint? Were there many races in the 1920's in Portugal? I know of one in 1912 for touring cars but that is it until the races of 1931.

As for Ferreira's Bugatti, you are right that it was a 51; it has the lower hole in the bonnet like Lehrfeld's.

Hello John,

browsing on ancient threads I've found this one, and I can explain something about it.

In 1925 there was in fact a circuit in Estoril called "Circuito do Estoril". It was the first one at that village but it was diferent from the other two held in 1935 and 1937.

In this one, the drivers had to run 10 laps around the circuit ONE CAR AT A TIME , and the time he takes to run that laps gives the final classification. That's the main difference, and that's why, when ACP organize the "I Circuit of Estoril" in 1935 it was the first and not the second edition.

I know I have somewhere the report of that race, so if you are still interested, I can search for it and posted here (or e-mail it for you).
