Frankly, I'm amazed at his pace.

Fastest lap in his first race in his first F1 car which makes all these experienced drivers look ordinary.

There must be something in those Rosberg genes. I've not been this excited about a Rookie since 2000 and Jensons first season.

Yup, he's doing very well. :)

Not sure about the "New Champion" thing though, I guess we'll have to see about that in a couple of years.

Certainly not this year but that battle with DC proves he has just what it takes too.

He must be very keen to do well and yet many new drivers would have over-driven badly in the same position.

He's one very cool customer, and clearly has what it takes.

Man IMO Nico was the man of this race along with Kimi. What a great ride and did you guys see how he didn't even flinch when he took care of Klien. Just went for it. He will eat Webber up this season mark this down.

Nico was nothing short of sensational. Had Heidfeld not spun him (or was it the other way around), who knows where he´d been.

And he even had his nose changed after the start. Webber should be worried.

I have to say I like Webber, and I was one of those who thought he had it in him to be a champ because his racecraft was ruthless and his qualifying is amazing. But Nico, apart from his first lap error, made him look pretty ordinary. Image what he could have done without that?

He messed up his frist lap and he messed his Q2 run. I think without that he could have done a LOT more.

I love Nico and Keke, what a great father and son combo!!!

Frank, make sure you have an iron tight contract. If i am Ron and Kimi is leaving, i'd get Nico to partner Alonso

There was a comment in Autosport from a "source close to Head" or something similar that the trouble with Nico is that he does not know how good he is. Glad to see he's got the techie side pretty much sussed.

Let's hope he can keep the pace and not do an Alesi.

As an early prophet of the Nico quickness I must just say, what could have been? Very strong, as I slowly start to realize JPM may not have it, here comes Nico..........

I think I mentioned a similar comment in the Piquet the-even-less-mature thread - as it was said in answer to the question "what's the difference between the two of them?"

Very impressive debut, fast, good overtaking and great recovery after bad luck or mistake at the start. But I guess you are allowed to make a few mistakes in your rookie season.

His father made me laugh with his chain smoking and doing fastest laps at silverstone, Nico seems fast, but lets see the consistency of speed through the season, but nice start.

You're absolutely right he will eat Webber up especially in the races. Webber definitely hasn't got that sensitivity in racing situations and has Webber ever had fastest race lap ?

He did do well.

He finished 30 sec behind Webber didnt he?
Also noticed becauce of the wing replacemnt he came in for a later stop and with new tyres and low fuel and got a fast lap.
Well done nico.

Yeah, Alonso was the youngest ever to set a fastest lap. It was in Canada 2003, where he finished 4th (behind Schumi, Ralf and Montoya). Alonso was 22 years old then I think.

Certainly a promising start for Nico. I think he might be beaten by Webber in qualis, as he's one of the best, but if he keeps this trend he will beat Webber in the races. It could be similar to what happened between Alonso and Trulli in 2003, where Trulli could cope with Alonso in qualis but he was demolished in races.

But too soon yet, I'd like to know what was Webber's fastest lap and take a look at everybody's pace.

From my point of view, Nico didn't mess up at the first corner at all. It was Heidfeld who practically steered over his front wing. Had Rosberg not spun and consequently pitted for a new wing, he might have been near or even on the podium! Very, very good race by the Finnish German/German Finn.

You really are slow. He meant Montoya doesn't have it.

Nico was fantastic today, he should beat Webber without that 1st pitstop.

Nico is now the youngest driver to have driven the fastest lap: 20 years 259 days
Alonso had the record before this race, he was 21 years 321 when he got his first fastest lap.

He also became third youngest driver to have scored points, behind Jenson Button (20yr 67d) and Ricardo Rodrigues (20yr 113d).

Mario Andretti did it at the US GP in 1968.
