Lotus last raced 1994............and they weren't JPS then.
The Simon Hadfield Restoration is enough of a telltale
.....it is nothing officially Team Lotus
.....1997 Zolder ? must have been an historic meet or so.

Probably a historic meet , iirc it was bilt for JPS Lotus in 1972 by Marshalls of Cambridge , I saw it at the commercial motor show on a UK visit to see the last race at The Palace , oh happy days .

Simon Hadfield still has it at his workshop, it is an ex works lorry. Didnt his father work for them?

Bonjour ,
Yes ZOLDER 1997 was an ISRS meeting ( International Sport Racing Series , now ELMS ) AND great historic races .
Now , 2 other photos of same transporter , shooted at Le Mans 1989 , in historic meeting on Circuit BUGATTI , perhaps in original colors ???
Note , official plates from Switzerland !!!

What strikes me as odd is that in the last photo one can read 'MARSHAL' on the lower aft side of the coachwork - whereas the Marshalls of Cambirdge that I can think of (Jags, busses and aircraft) is spelled with a double LL - so perhaps not the same Marshal(l)!

If you look between the two relectors in this image you will see sufficient
bodywork undulations here as well.......... Marshals ?
Wasn't there a firm who sold aerodynamic truck and trailers bodywings by that name at one time ?

Funny !!!! in one pic its on the offside....in the other pic on the nearside.........
whereas in the second pic of the first post the Marshal moulding is absent .....taken up by
signwriting for Car and Commercials (paint jobs)

Hi papiyv,

this Lotus Transporter has been used by Team Lotus from 1973 up until the early 80's. As mentionned earlier in this thread, it was built in late 1972 by Marshall of Cambridge and is based on a Leyland Leopard chassis. It changed livery many times from JPS to Essex and back to JPS.
The transporter nickname JAHIL comes from irs registration (JAH 1 L).
I would be grateful if someone could tell where the hell this transporter is now, considering it has been obviously maintained in a fairly good condition.

For your interest, here is a picture of its 1980 livery.

Am I missing something or shouldn't we be giving the Simon Hatfield's and John Delane's of this world a little love for their efforts. BTW, Simon and John can peddle pretty good too!

Neither of these guys have sponsors, the hard earned monies come out of their pockets.

Hi Simon, and welcome aboard.

Now you're here, perhaps you'll help me bully Marcus into signing-up!

Anyhow, I hope you enjoy it around here - your input will be very well received, I'm sure.

I think it would be a good idea to merge this thread with the transporter thread.

For those lacking funds and space, Spark have announced the 1.43 version arriving in June, JPS livery,
