Thats a great period shot Rod , who's the other feller ?? Is it Castle Combe or Thruxton ?
Castle Combe. Went there this year for the first time since the 60's. Some of it has hardly changed! Of course it's all
messed up with chicanes and debris fencing but the facilities are much improved.
I'm afraid the other fella is me, sorry

No , don't think I do Russ ---fancy calling me RedPlum
When would that have been ??

Don't think it's '57, Roy - No 36 is a twin - G45? - and in the '57 Senior 36 was Frank Fox (sadly, very recently gone from us) on a Manx Norton.
I am not familiar with horseflesh, alive or dead.
I know no more!!
Thanks for that Larry, I was looking at the shirt sleeves 1957 Senior where as 1958 was a shocker. Maybe it could have been after a practice.
I wonder if Gary has a No. 36 Matchless senior entry in any of his programmes?
Thanks, Roy

It was in the very early sixties; he wrote about it in the MCI, by installments I seem to remember. I think too that it was about building a racer for next to nothing. He did race it though, including in the Manx ? As you know, he was no slouch, winning the 500 Proddy TT of '68.

In his "TT rider's guide" book Ray refers shortly to that bike, which housed an Enfield engine in a 7R chassis of '49 vintage and was capable of "100 mph downhill" . He finished 56 th and last but one in the Senior MGP in '62. Not bad for a start, didn't Mick Grant finish last in his 1st MGP ??
Ray is one of the guides in the Babelgum vid "more TT circuit guide"
