Thanks,all....Yes, Alan Hamilton is listed in the programme as the driver of that car.
Dale.
a bit slow on my part, AH would have been the obvious answer, but the Scuderia banner threw me.
I should have connected the BP logo & the fact that there was no name on the car...all my earlier shots of him
had no driver ID.
Damn, I wish I hadn't lost/thrown away those programmes!!

Here are some more from 26th March 1972 Oran Park....
What looks like an invitation race for all-sorts....
Sorry about the pole (ah!, the price we photographers paid for the night races),
but it's my closest shot of Alan Moffat in the Escort, in a paint-scheme I don't remember!!
Alan Hamilton, Bill Brown & Norm Beechey
Next lap...obviously got him on the straight....there's no substitute for cubic inches!
(I do remember a day, watching John Basset in the Escort (BDA?), pass Beechey down that same straight.)
Barry Sharpe, Alan Moffat (understeering ?) & ?
Alan Moffat (understeering again)

Different car Hamiltons 911R was an early car,the Foley as i said was bought by Hamilton in '72 when it returned from NZ.Years latter it was owned by Reg Mort, drivers include Leo G,Goss and John Harvey.Ian G might also have had a drive in it.Yes, I just checked the Track test in RCN and the Foley car was a road 911S built into a race car at his Caringbah workshops. The Hamilton car featured is a specialist built race car of which Porsche built 20 customer cars.

went to the US.About 10 years ago Bowdens bought it it now sits in there museum .Do you know where the 911R ended up?

Without checking with Charlie I think his Moke only did one event, the Surfers 12 hour and then it went back to BMC from whom they had borrowed it.
I have an idea Doug Hicks in Victoria raced a Moke a few times, do any of our Victorian friends know about this ?
Lester McIntyre ran a Moke at Queensland tracks for a season or two. It also featured home-made side panels (required to comply with
sports car door regs).

Once again, if anyone wants higher res copies of them, then please let me know and I will email them to you with an address to Rod's family to thank.
There are about another 25 like this to come - plus about 40 motor bike ones which this meeting also had running.

That would be either Mary Hitchin or (outside chance...) Peter Hitchin in the Salmson, while the hat at the bottom of the pic is on the head of Hank Northey.

The current owner of the BMW Special is keen to know what diff was fitted to the car originally as the diff assembly is now missing from the car.
The BMW Special probably utilised the bikes shaft final drive ? Not a "diff" as such.

The famous John Medley shown above leading a Cooper Climax ( Stan Rumble's 1961 AGP winning car ) is featured on the front page of the current issue of the HSRCA magazine, The Oily Rag, and is there shown trying to shoulder a massive 1000kg Ford V8 Special out of the way with his little 400kg Nota, the result, a massive lock up by John.
A great series of photos Ed, pity you don't have any more.

Hi Dick, pic #56 car 83 is Bob Beer in PRAD 6 - PRAD Alta then PRAD Holden. Pic #68 car 83 is Ian Cummins C type.
Earlier pic #29 the nose of the car (73) in the background is PRAD 5 as purchased by me in 1975 competing in my first all historic meeting!

Shane, you had me fooled with your PRAD as it had a different nose on it then, similar to the Bob Beer car. You certainly go back a long way with it, pity you had such a long holiday away from racing.

Hi Dick, yes the original pontoon guards and nose were panelled over in aluminium and bog. There was evidence of accident damage from the time it was used as a road car by the son of L J Hooker when he purchsed it in 1959 from Jorian Blanch. I understand from Clive Adams it was regularly dropped off by tow truck to his panel beating premises for repairs. I believe that this resulted in court action due to non payment for work performed!
We managed to save about 90% of the original alloy body by Stan Brown. Yes my long absence from racing was due to life getting in the way and other priorities.
Regards Shane

Graeme Snape. Cooper BMW may be able to answer this.

Sorry? Is that all you can say?
I will never again see the gleaming chrome and nickel, the highly polished green paint? What a shame!
One hopes he kept the Healey motor and 203 front end it once wore. Could be the beginnings of a new life for it... or am I getting mixed up with Vulgarilla there? I'm sure the Alta had a 203 front end at least...

I'm thinking that, due to the similarities with the car he ran at the time, Bruce Polain might have taken note of these things...
And wouldn't Maurie Pearson be a possibility too? Though he might not still be around, I guess.
