This coming Friday sees the first outing for many years of the Oliroy F3 car, at a probably bleak and unwelcoming Silverstone test. Dating from 1980, the Oliroy is apparently derived from the Duqueine VG3, of 1979, according to http://www.f3history.co.uk

Does anyone have pictures of the Oliroy in period?

I'm rather hoping that Gerard Gamand might amaze us again with his fantastic collection of "intimate" period pictures!

I'm hoping to be at the test, so rest assured, I'll post some pictures of this unusual (if not unique) pre ground effect F3 car.

Sorry Cirrus,

I've no first hand information on the Oliroy.

I believe it was a "big money story" between the Duqueine brothers and Beranrd Perroy/Denis Olivera...
and the Duqueine VG3 suddenly beacme an Oliroy (like Ensign and Boro in F1...)

Have a look at the thread called "Duqueine F3"

Here are some pictures, taken on my phone, of the Oliroy today at Silverstone. Sadly it's return to the track after a long absence was confined to two laps, due to it's rebuilt (but unrun for a number of years) engine refusing to run on more than three cylinders after the first exploratory lap.

The owner of the car, Colin Painter, didn't get to drive it today, but it was the first outing for Iain (Delta) Rowley since his Formula Junior Spa shunt.

That is the way to find an old racing car !

Houlman discovered this Duqueine VG3 chassis (became suddenly an Oliroy) near his home, in a garage.

It was hanged on the wall with this old Martini body.

He completly restored the thing, in Oliroy version, with his irreplaceable talent.

As you can see, the Duqueine VG3 chassis was extremely strong construction, very well built.

Houlman say "they could have more 300 bhp, without problem"
