Gregor, it was Rainford who I was suggesting was the 'wonder boy'.

Cor, this takes me back. Castle Coombe 1967, Frazer Nash race for post-war cars, organised by the Frazer Nash car club that led to the Griffiths Formula and eventually to the HSCC.
I was driving LXH3, the Targa Florio that raced twice at LeMans with Peacock/Ruddock, first as a LeMans Replica, then when cycle wings were banned, was rebodied as a Targa Florio but also with wire wheels and big brakes. In fact I bet it was a new car but keeping the old chassis number and registration to avoid purchase tax.
I bought it in 1966 for £750 and couldn't really afford to run it, so sold it to Robert Mansfield for £1000, thinking I was really clever. I think Robert still has it, 40 years later.

Sorry Ted, I've just realised this photo is one of yours, which I should have acknowledged as copywright Ferret Photographics. I got it off the American Frazer Nash website. Apologies.

Something is telling me that we might have Richard Dean, Peter Hardman and Tim Sugden here.
If so, the link is probably Sports Cars in general, or Le Mans in particular.

The Leeds United supporter and Peter Hardman are driving Ginettas at Le Mans this year, while Tim is there in a Ferrari F430. The connection is that Rainford will be there to take pictures of all three with his new camera.

I think that I should get maximum points for the drivers and Le Mans. IMHO question answered in full.
How on earth would anyone on here - except PR and SA - be expected to know that Rainford will be there to take pictures of all three with his new camera.

Indeed it was. Poor Jim Lee could not get that heep to go despite miles and miles of testing.
RF84 was another ugly duckling as was the 55FCrossle. Who ever heard of trying to put a radiator in the middle of a car? Who were they copying?

Stuart "Two Dogs" Dix has got one going quite well in Class D of Club Formula Ford North West.
There are a few shots of his white / fluorescent No.46 car at http://brsccnw.com/brscc250509ff1600.htm
Mind you, he has totally re-engineered it with a lot of Swift influence and his own ideas.

11th May 1985 and the HSCC arrive at Oulton Park to find the daiseys and dandelions in full bloom.

Might be a silly question but is that Dad? I don't think so. in a b&w pic I'd say the looked more like Mike Newman's car than Old Nail plus I can't find trace of it - great period pics though.
