So, Phil, are all of your pics from Lodge? I must admit that I was struggling to identify the corner - more seriously, I'm also struggling to identify a couple of the cars... i.e. the crash victim, and the one following the Bug! Help! :|

The crashing car is an Alvis Special, I think driven by Rod Jolley
Not sure about the other one you queried - most likely a Rapier special, I suspect

'Tis, indeed, Rod Jolley with his Alvis Special, described as the Giron Alvis. Good job he has easy access to a good body shop.

You had me fooled with the corner too; what year was this?

Post #149 the red number 27 is the Bugatti.

No mistaking that this is a Bugatti! No signs of Rainford in the background unless that is him on the climbing frame?

I think the car following the Bugatti is a MG K type special possibly of Roger Sweet. I think the Bugatti is a Type 51, and being red most probably the Lord Raglan car often driven by Sir John Venables-Llewellyn.

In the shot of the Cooper Bristol following a white ERA with yellow wheels. Is that R9B with perhaps borrowed wheels from Remus or Hanuman?

My fault entirely for not labelling the pictures

The pictures were taken on the Sunday 8th June 1986 at of course the Richard Seaman Memorial Meeting

Matt you are spot on with the driver of the Bugatti.

While here are a trio of I hope perfectly correct driver and car combinations.....

How on earth was that car allowed on the track? No firewall, battery cover or marker. you need those even for regularity. When finished it should be an interesting device though those horrid 3 stud wheel are an accident waiting to happen.

The slightly bizzare-looking blue Bugatti (OPJ 2) in Stephen W's post is that of Averil Scott Moncrieff, the wife of "Bunty" Scott-Moncrieff, purveyor of horseless carriages to the gentry. It was the ex-"Twink" Whincop Type 57.

Thanks Alan; it was part of a roll of 35mm film stock I blasted off and once printed the images languished in a drawer until the new scanner arrived!

Middle of the road at Le Mans.

Really! This is the N138 where it heads down to Tertre Rouge and then onwards towards Mulsanne, I'm lying on the road, the cars are coming from the right, exiting from the permanent part of the circuit. Two giant gates behind me stop unwanted traffic from joining in (and stop J. Public from getting a freebie view).

Thanks for that great view of the 250F's Alan.
It never ceases to amaze me how fat they look from this angle. You get no indication of this standing beside them.

It's a view I know only from my old Scalextric 250F.

Indeed, Barry. The first two tinplate GP cars of the 1950s were Ferrari and Maserati, based on the 250F - I thought you would have had one.

Actually you're right, it was an MRRC model. They did a 250F and a Vanwall.

I hadn't forgotten the tinplate cars, Alan, but I always thought the Maserati was more like an A.6.GCM.

I took 1500 shots at Phillip Island last weekend.

As usual with this sort of thing, lots of them were in the pits and garages.

Here's just one.

The following selection is for two recent posters on this thread who, if you can believe it, can never get enough of a certain 1950s Grand Prix car of Modenese extraction. Who can blame them? More photos from Spa 1992.

Look at the state of the track! I'm guessing this is Knicker brook pre-chicane, taken from the sand-hill ("Clay Hill")? The corner looks sharper than I recall.

Some happy snaps from yesterday's VSCC Spring Start meeting at Silverstone. Seemed to have one of the largest ever crowds in attendance, plenty of interesting cars and the sun even shone. Well done VSCC.
