Here are some pictures I took at the Pontedecimo - Giovi regularity hillclimb that was held last week in Genoa. This event has an heritage spanning back to 1920s, with 28 races taking place between 1922 to 1967 on the challenging route that starts from the city outskirts to reach the top of the hilly ridge separating the sea from the mountain region up north.
Italy being Italy, someone had forgotten to ask for the right authorization for the first day stage to take place in the harbour area near the airport, so the event had to be cut short: although it seemed, at first, that the authorities had not cared about the lack of paperwork, Genoa being Genoa an old lady ( - sigh -) complained about the noise (which is at least a peculiar objection, since the cars were on a pier between the airport landing strip and the shipyards ) and the whole thing was shut down until the following day.
