They look as though a plowed field wouldn't trouble them!
I think it might be a Field Marshall with Lotus body-kit.

I did however find it somewhat ironic that the major (& quite justified) critic of my over-exposure last year, Alan Cox, was the first to unwittingly post a pic of me this year from the Autosport International Show.............

Interesting-Emmo even went back to the period helmet without the spider web and the blue shading detail. With the noticeable exception of Sir Stirling most anciens pilotes just grab whatever is available and that is generally the last one they wore. From Bahrain's F1 world championship 60th anniversary parade today..

All luverly, but these two stand out for me, and that 79 is just one of the most beautiful cars ever. Thanks Simon! From Bahrain's F1 world championship 60th anniversary parade today...
Fuzzy veld - Mansell and Scheckter.
Black and pure gold: Mario Andretti plus Lotus 79.

And do I spy "Painted by SID. Brazil" to the bottom right-hand corner of the helmet?Interesting-Emmo even went back to the period helmet without the spider web and the blue shading detail.

Except they've swapped expressionsThe Scheckter/Mansell portrait is terrific.

Given that you get an OBE for taking a couple of slip catches nowadays, he really should be Sir JS...
Posted 14 March 2010 - 22:37
Agreed. With ALL his world titles, he certainly deserves to be knighted. While I am over here in the US and not familiar with whatever politics, etc., goes into the Queen's honors, I still am very surprised that he has not been knighted. Does the fact that he has an OBE (IIRC) rule out an 'upgrade' to knighthood? Someone please tell me how it works. It really is a disgrace; hopefully someone who knows how to do these things will start a petition to whichever expenses-claimer is the next tenant of Number 10.
Posted 14 March 2010 - 22:58
Definitely not, Tom. There is no reason at all why he should not be knighted, and I really hope this glaring omission is rectified as soon as possible.Does the fact that he has an OBE (IIRC) rule out an 'upgrade' to knighthood? Someone please tell me how it works.

Why odd Barry? Not wishing to drag this thread into being a discussion about racing cars..... but, isn't that a rather odd intake on the bonnet of that Thinwall Special?
