As it happens I am in Fernando Alonso's home town today, Oviedo
We watched the race on the big screen here at the venue with about 50 local members of the FA fanclub.

The Marriott in N'awlins has a Champions Sports Bar with SPEED channel.
(But alas...the race is now over)

The Funky Monkey in Dover shows it, but I wouldn't take a laptop if you don't want to lose it . . . or a phone for that matter . . . or even a wallet . . .

I just wanted to report back on the NYC Meet group. It's fabulous, really nice people and great venues. If you're living in NY or just passing through, I highly recommend it.

I need to go soon for three months to Yokohama. Any idea what's available? I know Roppongi a little (pssshhh), but that is little bit inconvenient, especially in odd hours. What TV channels I can tune in?

MiPe:
You want to find a bar/place with the "SKY PERFECT" satellite system.
F1 is on channel 721 (Fuji TV ONE)
I have been to the yokohama sports bar but it's mostly footbaroo.

The bar mentioned in Roppogi DOES stay open forever though and has good links to the underground if you can't find anything near.

Good luck

At The Australian venue, which is also used by the MeetUp group, you cannot find a bunch of more nerdier types, I am sure they are all Hamilton supporters! [Hamilton is the nerd and Jenson is the jock!]

Most treat it like a football match and the noise from all those nasally squeaky types, is so loud that you will NOT be able to hear commentary.

I went once for interest sake and that is the last time!
Saint Devote
And viewers in the United States are about to be forced to endure, not only coverage that does things like put ads on as the last round of leader pitstops occur, but have to watch the next four grand prix via the non-cable public Fox channel!

The commentary is just so inane as we HAVE to revert to basics as they pretend that it attracts "new viewers in the United States" [yeah right!] but also, it is screened SEVEN g-------m HOURS! after the start!

Generally I hate Speed Channel because it is mostly either NASCAR or shows for numbskulls such as "Wrecked" - showing less than intelligent tow drivers "in action"!!! Ye gods!

If tehre was another outlet I would go to it, but in the US, there is none. It is unfortunately the dratted Speed Channel and the bloody Fox crap for four races or nothing.

The folks in Europe, those in England with the wonderful BBC coverage do not realize how lucky they are - and they do not have people such as Bob Varsha commentating either!

Well, technically I suppose you could call sitting on him a scrum, so yeah, if you like. We had a great time, without Saint Devote.

Here in the Philippines, There's a sports bar in Greenbelt, Makati City. It's a bar where you cana ctually watch all sorts of sports and they do have live telecast of F1 Race. The bar's name is National Sports Grill.

Good food, drink and good sports ambiance.

I am about to travel back to Japan for a few months. Does anyone knows whether Fuji TV network provides internet broadcasting services (of F1)? I did go through google based searches, but cannot make a head and tail out of it. If anyone can provide some basic guideline what to look for and what to avoid, that would be greatly appreciated. I will try to make Suzuka, but I cannot miss Schumi's comeback! For Valencia race I shall be at Hiroshima, for Spa in Nagoa, and for the others back to Tokyo or Yokohama. (Which is a reason why internet based viewing on my laptop might be best bet, if that's available).

Thanks.

Edit: I have dropped them actually an email (just as to BBC).

I found myself in Montreal last weekend at 7 am on a race Sunday morning with nowhere to go thanks to the train strike. Wandered around looking for a place to watch the Hungarian GP without much hope, but then went into Dunn's Deli (24-hour smoked meat place) on Metcalfe just south of St. Catherine. They have TSN on 24 hours so you can watch the race there, but without volume, and get a cheap breakfast too.

Mmm any tips about the F1 in Este (Padova) people, for the European GP. Help.

Does anyone know if Sky Sports Italia show the Free Practices normally, then I can try and find some dodgy local bar to put it on for me...

Hiya Fizzy...
Funnily enough I was in Padova a few weeks ago.
There is a Sheraton hotel across from the huge Ikea on the Autostrada
They have SkySports2 in the bar and YES, they play all sessions.

Do you by any chance have the link to the Japanese site, I can't ask her for the info for obvious reasons smile.gif

Ah thanks sweetie kiss.gif knew I could count on you.

Thanks for the link. Leave it to the Aussies/Saffies to infiltrate the local scene tongue.gif I was kind of hoping for an 'authentic Irish pub/bar' but I guess that would be a lot to ask in Dublin.

So F1 on Setanta, ok, and IndyCar would be on ('usual suspect' = ?) Sky? as in the same Sky as here in the UK?

Lemme know when you're around and up for a drink of five.

I know there's a recommendation in the first post, but are there any other tips on good places to watch the Japanese GP in Tokyo ? I'd imagine it'll be on in a number of bars as it's the home GP, but is there anywhere esecially good in the city as a whole, and anywhere near Shinjuku ?

Oh Yeah...I am well versed on arranging those accidents wink.gif

You will find the GP on La Deaux (RTBF) AT 6:55 AM
I suggest a few strong cocktails the night before for her to precipitate the credibility of an accidental discovery!!!

Bon Chance.
