Can anyone tell me if this car 111 is Robin Darlington driving a 997cc Brabham BT21

It looks more like a Lotus 20 or 22 to me. Are you sure it's an August meeting? That could be snow on the ground, and the trees look quite bare.

Alan I am not sure about anything only that the foreground is not snow just a bad photo, no I am researching Robin Darlington for Robin himself, is records are not uptodate, looking in the programme for the meeting it has 111 down as Darligton, so I am still unsure.

A bit of a mystery
The Autosport report says Darlington retired his Brabham BT21A on the first lap of the libre race, but that's certainly a Lotus in the picture

Barbon Manor Hillclimb 1964 car N0. 81 Peter Westbury driving the Ferguson P99 Climax 4WD - the Ferguson displayed its usual fantastic step-off from the start and out of the final hairpin to record a new fastest time for the hill in a time of 27.229seconds and first place

Once again, excellent stuff, Norman. How narrow the Barbon track is. Fascinating to see the size and width of the rear tyres on the 23, via the cutaway/broken off side rear wing, to match the BRM engine/box transplant. Did you do any photos at Leighton Hall, traditionally the day after Barbon?.

Norman. You didn't happen to be hanging around the Chequered Flag pits (muddy paddock actually) on Boxing day meeting, Brand Hatch 1959 with camera in hand? I am looking for photos of Warner's Gemini #29 and Williamson's Gemini #31 showing the front suspension. I believe they differed.

Norman,

I would be interested in any pictures you might have of Jack Paterson and his Lotus 23B. He purchased the car and ran it as a 23 in '66 and '67. Later he ran the same car that was converted to a Saturn GT in '69 and '70. I would like pictures of the Saturn as well.

If this is the case, does anyone remember when this number adorned a 1300 "S" which I saw in the mid to late '60s in the British Saloon Car Championship rounds at Brands. This would have been a Grp2 or 5 car, or am I completely confused again? confused.gif I know the number from somewhere seen on the track :\

A very nice shot Norman. As you probably recall, the MZ's were mucho fast but not overly reliable. Do you by chance have any further bike pics?

Is it the same Mick Clare who drove an Aurora sports car? Is he still a garage owner and if so which area can he be found?
petestenning
It may well be the same Mick Clare he no longer has a garage it was sold a few years ago and was in Cople, Bedfordshire. He was well known locally as a Mini driver of renown.

Did JYS drive both Tojeiros in period? Provenance is everything...........
According to Derek Lawson's Oulton book, JYS won the first race in a Lotus Cortina, led by 36 secs in the Tojeiro before stopping with timing chain maladies, but won another race in the Monaco, easily after Lanfranchi's early exit with broken gear selectors in the 2ltr Elva BMW.
There is an excellent departing-grid shot of the Tojeiro in 3/4 frontal on p 118 of Derek's tome, and there are several others in Anthony Pritchard's Sports/Racing Cars of the Sixties, showing the body differences compared with the one for sale.

As usual, great photos Norman, I have seen both cars in period, the 1973 R.A.C. was the one when (IIRC) Marku Alen rolled his Boreham RS1600, and clawed his way back to 3rd place O/A by the finish, great days!

LVX941J - allegedly Roger Clark's former British Championship car (now referred to by so many as "Old Gold" -but never in period that I recollect, any more than LVX942J was "Esso Blue")....or was it re-shelled by DH, not just re-sprayed...?

Can I thank David McKinney for the two results at Silverstone and Snetterton that I was chasing for Robin Darlington. The BRDC have told him to submit all his results for consideration for his membership to the BRDC, also Ian Titmarsh a BRDC member and also a commentator at Oulton Park, is due to see him when I submit these final two race results, once again thank you David for such a promt reply

BRSCC Guards 5000 Guineas National Car Races (another one Steve)
Good Friday 4.4.1969 Oulton Park Car N0.17 Ulf Norinder 5.0 Lola T142/37 Chevrolet V8. His car did not arrive for qualifying, although the burly Swede qualified for the race in Taylor's car. Norinder's blue and yellow Lola finally arrived on Friday so he was able to start from the back of the grid.
Norinder was in 4th place near the end of the race when he ran out of petrol at Knickerbrook. He filled up from a friendly marshall's post and continued to the flag, he was initially disqualified for refuelling outside the pits, common sense prevailed and he was reinstated with one lap less to his credit and in 5th place
