Won't be able to make it to a GP this year, so was thinking the Goodwood festival was the next best thing. But, it seems for tickets you can get grandstands or 'admission'.

Does anyone know what the viewing is like for 'admission', which I assume is general admission.

General admission is fine for the FoS. There are plenty of vantage points along the course.
