It's Mark Webber again, with his now traditional preview of how difficult thing will be this time.
And all this on a track named after Gilles. That 1981 race sure seems a long, long time ago...
Mark Webber believes rain showers in tomorrow's Canadian Grand Prix will be much harder for drivers to deal with than the wet race in Monaco a fortnight ago. The Australian thinks the low downforce nature of the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve will make life difficult when it comes to racing with no electronic driver aids if threatened rain showers do come. "The grip level is low here (Montréal). We're not on Monaco downforce. The track is slippery to start with, you've got a lot less downforce on the car and that's the key here. The downforce level plays with everyone wet or dry and the cars are more difficult to drive. If we have greasy, changeable conditions on Sunday, they'd better sure they've fuelled the safety car up. Here, you go out and feel as though you have no talent whatsoever, because you have so little grip. "

Speaking of nostalgia, did any other TNF member attend Expo 67?
My new bride and I spent a week there, unaware that the site would someday metamorphose into a top-notch racing venue.
41 years later, I remember that the lines to the more popular Expo exhibits were several hours long, which provided plenty of time to indulge in liquid refreshment. In a couple of instances, by the time we entered the exhibit we were past the point of caring!

Attend Expo67? Indeed, I did.
The highlight? The BRM H-16 literally hanging on a wall of the British pavillion.

MC, memory is a funny thing. I visited the British pavilion and would've thought that I'd recall the H-16; but no.
Strongest memory is of the Israel timeline display.
Are the remains of the Bucky Fuller geodesic dome still there?

Hi, again, L23!
Oh, I'm sure it is. iirc, it's still administered by the US government as a tourist attraction.
One way to check? Watch the Canadian GP from Montreal this afternoon! It's bound to be in a TV camera shot at some point or other.

I was in Montreal a week ago, and brought home a Guide Book. I checked in it and the Biosphere is now run by Environment Canada as a venue for information and displays about the environment.

It is 30 years ago that the circuit had it,s 1st F1 race my how time has flown by.28 cars turned and we had was pre qualifying !! unlike today with only 20 starters ,it is such a great track it,s a pitty they cannot keep a GOOD surface on it? i guess those cold winters are the problem.

I think that the Montreal paving problem may be related to a lack of racing on that circuit. Asphalt needs a lot of traffic to get fully bedded down. May be some one has a more technical answer.
