Anyone going to this next week, 28th & 29th June? Formerly the Brands Superprix, now the 'Autoglym' Historic Festival.

Excellent entries for the races on the Brands GP circuit. 20x F5000 cars (5 over especially from New Zealand), HFO ( Formerly Thoroughbred Grand Prix ), Can-Am McLarens and March up against the 2-litre Chevrons & Lolas in the Orwell Supersports and on the Saturday, no less than 100 FJ's entered over three races to celebrate the FJ 50th anniversary! Add in the Guards Trophy, Historic FF, saloons, Classic F3 and other HSCC races...should be great....and very noisy!

& yes, I'll be out on the Sunday (with newly added TNF stickers to the car,too)......................
sterling49
A bit of a trek, but I'll make it too wink.gif
Cirrus
I'll be looking after Roger Price's car on Sunday in Classic F3, so I'll probably get there Saturday afternoon. It's a stunning entry 115+ Juniors, 24 F1s, 4 McLaren M8s. It should be the best historic meeting of the year in the UK...
petestenning
I hope to make both days, last year was a bit damp lets hope its dry this time.

Yes indeed.

Gary, I am very interested in the TNF stickers you mentioned.... love.gif
Gary C
LOL @ Barry! They are the last 2 of the set you made me about 4 years ago!
Barry Boor
Ah! Glad you still have them.

Good luck on Sunday - do a Kubica!

That's a Kubica Canada 2008, NOT a Kubica Canada 2007!
Maldwyn
I'm hoping to make the trip to Brands on the Sunday.

Does anyone know if Riccardo's B34 will be racing? I'd been told that Pierre Lemasson was the buyer of the car a while ago and he would be at Brands but I don't see the name on the entry list...?
275 GTB-4
I hope to be there both days....F5000..CanAm..etc should be great up.gif
Cirrus
If you're there on Saturday evening, 275, look out for an elderly motorhome next to an orange Delta FF2000 car (Number 53). I'll probably be nearby, you can't miss me - middle aged, balding - grey hai..... You know - typical TNFer. Stop by for a beer!

Popped into Brands on my way home...as you do! There are some lovely cars there, the yellow M23 looks and sounds gorgeous!!! Lots of activitiy in West Kingsdown at the moment, and without silencers up.gif up.gif up.gif

....bump!

Don't forget tomorrow Brands. you will find a small TNF gathering in the paddock around Gary C's Historic formula Ford Nike which is yellow & blue Scrutineering about 9.00 practice about 10.30 and I think Gary is first race on the afternoon programme.

I took my family on Saturday and had a wonderful time. Park anywhere, go anywhere, brilliant racing, ninety-seven Formula Juniors started in three races, F1's, sports-racing and sports cars. The best birthday I've ever had.
sterling49
A great day! I attended Sunday and met up with Richard Hinton (RTH), Gary Critcher, Tim Nevinson (huwjadvantage) and Alan Morgan (Cirrus), so much to see! I understand that 275GTB was in attendance also, but sadly never made his aquaintance (busy marshalling I understand up.gif ) Saw Gary's Nike FF, a lovely car and driven spiritedly in the race, but probably made Gary's heart miss a few beats at Druids........(always a difficult corner Gary!). The F1 field was stunning, my heart too skipped a beat when I saw a French racing blue car with a V-12 bolted in the back....an MS120 clap.gif clap.gif clap.gif the wail was earpiercing, an amazing sound that I have not heard live for some 30 plus years, the sight of that car and the piercing exhaust note........what can a petrol head say? The Williams were so nice (FW06s) and leading, and the Tyrell 001 and the Shadow with Tom's name on the side, heart rending. The same can be said for the F5000 car with Tony Brise's graphics on the side.

The M8 McLaren, awesome noise, never seen or heard one before, brilliant! The nice B19s( I remember the "Tergal" sponsored car well), T210s, classic saloons, so much to see.

As usual I took a camera, and failed to take many pics, too busy either talking or watching, sorry guys, will post the meagre shots that I took later. A great show of when cars were more pleasing to my eyes and the track was configured differently.

p.s. did the JPS cars have to tangle in front of me at Paddock mad.gif
Andrew Kitson
I went Saturday, as Sterl says a lot to see. Two Lotus 88's on track in the F1 race, Chris Dinnage of CTL told me that was a first. The FJ entry was tremendous and lots of famous faces around the FJ 50th party tent. The 1974 Sports Matra sounded great too, both raced by Abba Kogan. That wail of both Matras through the trees bringing back great memories of Amon in the '72 car at the GP that year.
Maldwyn
I was there today, but unfortunately couldn't stay for as long as I wanted sad.gif but I did take a few photos:

Just got back myself - what a great meeting. Two days of excellent racing, with Brands at its very best! Met up with Gary C, Sterling49, Zoff2005, and 2F-001. It was great to see such a big crowd - I'm sure many first timers will want to come back for more...

Don't expect the usual report from Gary as his computer has packed up.

Surely he must have computers at work Barry? Nice TS20 there today, in Matchbox colours too!

Great photos Michael, we meant to walk around the long circuit, but never quite got around to it, you fared much better with your camera than I.....just 10 paltry photos I took blush.gif

It's been a long, long time since I wandered out into the country at Brands, and the last time I did (1979 IIRC!!) there wasn't quite so much fencing getting in the way of the camera lens, but it's still well worth the walk cool.gif
sterling49
Mind you....looking at your photo of Tom's Shadow, you must have been seated near me in the Granstand at the bottom of Paddock!
Maldwyn
See, that's why we could do with TNF t-shirts smile.gif You may have spotted me at the fence a short distance down from the Druids bridge then! The F1 photos were taken during their morning warm-up which I arrived just in time for.
Ted Walker
Lots of "period " Formula Junior drivers as well Howden Ganley.John Whitmore,Hugh Dibley, etc. Welsh GP at Pembrey in two weeks time.

A wonderful day, even with a wife and a 2 daughters in tow!

This is the view Gary, Sterling and myself had as we watched from the paddock grandstand at the bottom of Paddock Hill.
Lovely hot mostly sunny weather ,decent crowd, we walked around the whole of the Grand Prix Circuit, the F1 race in particular had some very special cars in it.

Two black and gold Lotus 88s in one race

Mr Critcher's hard drive has gone in to melt down at present, when he is back on line no doubt he will be able to relate the story of his historic Formula Ford race, which was eventful, having started from the pitlane due to a marshalling misunderstanding which resulted in it ending in the sand at Druids with bent suspension.

Never mind Gary I have film of you being towed in !! wink.gif

Does anyone know if the results are online anywhere?
I used to get them from MST, but they've morphed into TSL, and the only info on their site seems to be the schedule
Andrew Kitson
The results were up on that site yesterday, you need to click on the 'results' PDF icon.

Thanks Andrew - I see where I've been going wrong. The only icon showing on the meeting page is the timetable PDF - I should have clicked on the date, which brings up a results icon as well

Was the red FJ with Amon on its side a car that Chris at once pedalled??

The Courage Historic F1s looked stunning as did the Tyrell 6 wheeler.

Great cars, Great Racing smile.gif

Hello Andrew,

Do you know to whom belongs this Caltex Brabham Nb 11?

It's Kurt Ahrens version.

I send him the picture by mail. I'm sure he will be glad to see this! Does the car and its owner comes over to the continent for a Classic event? Nürburgring? Spa 6 Hrs? I 'll be glad to present Kurt to the owner. Could be great to take some pictures!

It is David Brown's car, an Englishman. He also races the ex-Gerard / Peter Gaydon BT30, seen here at the Snetterton HSCC meeting earlier in the year.

I've also seen him out in an F1 March 721 in recent years.
Ted Walker
The Ahrens BT23c has just been restored by Retro Track & Air for its owner David Brown. The car might go to Spa in September for the HSCC up to 2litre single seater race.

Thank you so much Andrew and Ted!
I forwarded the picture to Kurt and I just had him on the phone (We were together at the Solitude Revival last weekend) and he couldn't believe his eyes!
I must say the car is very beautiful (as new!) and we both are looking forward to see it in Spa.
