I absolutely and totally agree with glorious&victorius's post. up.gif Lewis has made F1 exciting again, he is the best thing that has happened to F1 for years. It is a day I never thought would come...in the dark days of 2000-2004, I never thought I would enjoy F1 again...and F1 is a sport I love like no other. Of course Alonso made things interesting again come 2005, but then spoiled it in 2006 when he started whingeing and moaning when things didn't go his own way. But who cares about Alonso now when we have Lewis to cheer for.

The Scot cheering for the Englishman...now that is saying something! smile.gif clap.gif

Quite fitting, actually... I also think Lewis has a lot in store to lighten up everyones day.

It's just usually not the same days for different kinds of people... drunk.gif

You will care when Alonso is in a Ferrari winning five in a row, it will be 2000 – 2004 all over again for all those foolish enough not to be Alonso boosters. Lewis will be left to fight for the scraps that fall from Alonso’s championship table. After a few years LH will have transformed into DC but without the sense of humor or the smooth people skills. By this time even Lewis’ fans will have had enough of his vainglorious boasting, bragging, and pretentious, blustering talk. Especially in light of his continued underperformance. Lewis may even get another glimpse of the championship but will toss away his chance in a fit of error filled pique

Good luck to the hamster cuz he is really going to need if he wants to tangle with the master Alonso without the benefit of the team boss handicapping Alonso.

If Alonso has a car advantage at Ferrari I've no doubt that could happen. Kimi might have to walk somewhere mind.

Hamilton would need to walk too, we know Alonso can't do it when they've both got cars.

Yes but Ferrari are only interested in drivers with championship potential, drivers that shine when it is all on the line, drivers like Alonso, Schumacher, Kimi… proven winners.
Drivers who understand that shooting off your mouth is often the equivalent of shooting yourself and your team in the foot, drivers who let their professional managers take care of making them rich allowing them to focus 100% on the team and their job.

Ham doesn’t fit the bill. It is more likely that he will end up like Fisi lots of talk about potential but nothing to show, spending his twilight years running around at the back in the 10th or 11th best car. ”I have #22 on my car I must be the #22 driver” lol.gif

well whatever happens hes had his success upto now, monaco and home gp win, cant be too sad about that smile.gif

I am a bit nervous actually, Slate sad.gif . By 2010 Hammy will be reasonably experienced, more consistent and even faster than he was last year when he matched Fernando. He could easily be a 2x wdc. McLaren will have a top kers from Merc. Fernando will have spent two years in the midfield, being beaten by Vettel in the RB et al, in a deteriorating relationship with Renault, and will have to adjust to Ferrari's way of doing things and their car. Three years after the dreamteam era that momentum could be fading and Ferrari could be prone to its passionate internal disputes again, which Fernando is quite likely to make worse rather than better - asking for his own special brakes, briefing the Spanish media, hanging with his Spanish entourage in the garage and skipping Madonna di Campiglio week and post-race debriefs. Without a genuine large manufacturer behind them Ferrari could be struggling to keep up with the pace of development. Monty might be menacing the team and calling them stupid. Max as head of the FIA Senate will be enjoying a sado-masochistic power struggle with his successor, and Bernie will be 80, so support from those two could be less effective than in 2005-8.

So I'd worry we'd be staring down the barrel of boring domination by Hammy, except fortunately there'll be Kubi at BMW.... lol.gif

But for you of course, there is the dread spectre eek.gif of Hammy being more confident than ever roflmao.gif roflmao.gif

Ham may be "walking" sooner than later if he can't manage to improve his screw up/good race, ratio. after 1.5 seasons he is getting worse not better.

Although I do enjoy you tickling the Hamiltonians a bit I am slightly worried Slate, last time you picked a driver to troll upon he turned out to dominate the sport for years and became the most successful driver of all time.

I will hold you personally responsible if hamster dominates like MS for a season or 2. wink.gif

I thank God for giving us Lewis. I am enjoying following a F1 driver again.

In the post-Senna era... Michael was too boring, and Alonso belongs to the Spaniards.

But Lewis.... he is here for all of us up.gif

He'd better go back to the low-profile modest driver, he was likeable, now he sucks (not as a driver if you ask me, in fact I think he will become WDC this year).

Btw Alonso not only belongs to the Spaniards, he as fans in other places. What about Lewis, does he belong to he English?

If his current trend continues he will be less consistent more error prone and more boastful. It is going to be a hard ride for the old hamster as he slides into a slot alongside F1’s back of the pack monkeys.

In 2006 I only remember him "moaning" when the FIA punished him for """""""impeding"""""""" Massa (driving 100 meters ahead), and when in China Renault didn't force Fisichella not to overtake Alonso and hold Schumacher back.

For me Lewis was the best thing last year, but he has to go back to modesty and do the talking on the track, it's horrible when he starts the I am a supasta speech.

You're a bit behind the times, Hamilton's last race was compared to the best of Schumacher and Senna, meanwhile Alonso was overtaken by Piquet (again!), then made a dumb call on the tyres. Alonso's legacy: spat the dummy at Renault, spat the dummy at McLaren, returned to Renault where a 2nd rate driver made him look ordinary. I can see why you're desperately trying to talk Hamilton down, it's easier than talking your boy up! lol.gif

Have you got a plan, for if he is in fact very successful? A coping strategy or support group of some kind?

You are right: as far as McLaren favoured Lewis after Monaco 2007, we definitely know it. Even that way, equal points in the end and only one better 3d place for LH.

So it´s a done deal then, this Alonso to Ferrari? And it´s a five year deal? Where do you get your information? I haven´t read anything but childish Spanish media related rumors so far, so could you provide a reliable link for that deal? Thanks in advance.

More facts:

Alonso not quite as good as Piquet Jr (even though he's the official #2! roflmao.gif ).

Hamilton's skill being compared to that of Senna and Schumacher. You're looking at about 15 years of pain, as undersquare said, you better have planned a coping strategy.

Well, I'm turning of reverse polarity SlateGray mode now, time to go home. tongue.gif

It's fun Lewis lovers vs. Slategray lol.gif don't give up Slate, they don't have their WDC yet, and you might make fun of them at the end of the season. I think he will make it this time though.

Well, sorry I didn´t follow thread close enough to aknowledge it, but really, as far as childish F1 media goes, it can´t go futher than Bild or Spanish media, everything else just pales in comparation.

Well ham will need a 21 point lead with two races to go if he wants to win the WDC, any less of a lead and he will flub it (again)

2 races to get 4 points with the best car in the field and he could not get er done lol.gif

Button what button? "I never pressed the wrong button; the car did that all by itself"

Ron: "The system received the wrong input" lol.gif

Good thing there are only two WDC’s in the current field what with hams propensity for ramming champions up the buckside lol.gif

Now Slate, is that really your best shot? Last year? The imaginary button-pressing? tongue.gif

What happened to "stick to the current facts"?

wdc 2008 @today...

Hamilton 1st 48 pts
Alonso 9th 13 pts

Sorry mate, you're biased. There's shit media everywhere. News of the world, The Sun, Daily Mirror....are not really an example of serious media.

That news were published initially by AutoBild, easy to call it fake since it's Bild, but some serious papers have confirmed it, not only in Spain (El Pais) but in Autosport too, everywhere.

At the risk of being reasonable, it is a waste to have FA at Renault this year. But by the time they are back in equal cars, they could be equal in wdc's too... kiss.gif

Yes, there´s shit media everywhere, but Bild and Spanish are the worst ones without no doubt.

Are you sure Autosport and other reliable sources have confirmed the deal, or isn´t it rather a case of: "Bild has reported that Alonso will join Ferrari..."?
