First facts (guesses) :

Ducati Marlboro: Casey Stoner (Nicky Hayden / Niccolo Canepa)
Alice Ducati: (Toni Elias / Sylvain Guintoli / Mika Kallio)

... Yamaha: Valentino Rossi, Jorge Lorenzo
Tech 3 Yamaha: Colin Edwards, James Toseland

Repsol Honda: Dani Pedrosa (Andrea Dovizioso)
Gresini Honda: (Alex de Angelis / Shinya Nakano / Marco Melandri)
Scot Honda: (Marco Simoncelli / Marco Melandri)
LCR Honda: (Randy de Puniet)

Suzuki: (Loris Capirossi, Chris Vermeulen)

Kawasaki: John Hopkins (Mika Kallio)

(Aspar: Alvaro Bautista)

Notes: Honda line-up very unsure. I must confess that I have not followed all websites with the latest rumours etc., so please correct when I am wrong!
Gilles4Ever
Canepa wont be at Ducati MotoGP, he is going to WSBK.
There is also Sete - personally I dont think they are that serious with him.

Scot are also keen on Hayden. Straight swop Hayden and Dovi

Melandri also possible for Kawa.

Spies at Suzuki
Bautista at Suzuki
Vermeulen may be out of MotoGP (Ducati supposedly want him for WSBK)

Don't think we will see satellite Suzuki or Kawas in 09
Atreiu
I really hope Hayden doesn't got to a satellite Honda.
He'd be better at Ducati, no matter how risky it seems..

He could end as another Melandri there.

I'm suprised Ducati would want him.. where does this rumour come from?

Yeah, Michael Scott at GPWeek had that one on Monday. Interesting rumours. I'd love to see Hayden at Ducati. Scott says they already tried to get him after he won the title. Also say's the Scot story is true, with a straight swap for Dovizioso

Agreed. Michael Scott is a legend.
Ross Stonefeld
They wanted Hayden mid 06 actually. Imagine his luck if he had seen off Rossi on his way out of Honda and hopped on the bike now being run by Stoner. Iirc Stoner was their 3rd or 4th choice after Sete staying or signing Hayden.

And Stoner only went to LCR because Yamaha stole Camel from Sito Pons and Honda wouldn't give him bikes if he ran Biaggi!

Just a few guesses at the moment, it will all start moving once the futures of Hayden and Melandri are decided.

Ducati

Marlboro: Stoner, Hayden
Alice: (Elias/Guintoli,), Kallio

Yamaha

Works Yamaha: Rossi, Lorenzo
Tech 3: Edwards, Toseland

Honda

Repsol: Pedrosa, Dovizioso
Gresini: de Angelis, Nakano
JIR Scot: (Melandri/Vermeulan)
LCR: (Simoncelli/De Puniet)

Suzuki: Capirossi, Spies

Kawasaki: Hopkins, (Melandri/Vermeulan)

I can't see Aspar joinimg next year and its unlikely that Suzuki and Kawasaki will lease any extra bikes apart from at the American rounds.
Stephan
* Edwards has been confirmed for 2009.

* Scot / JIR part ways, no new sponsor announced so uncertainty about the team's future.

* Has Vermeulen saved his ride with two consecutive podiums?

Any news on Melandri's situation at Ducati? He didn't look so bad pace-wise in the last couple races

He is waiting to hear what's happening, supposedly in the dark as much as we are.

Crash.net says that his contract has "been annulled by mutual consent".

Marco Melandri is in the dark over whether he will be returning to action after the summer break, with rumours rife surrounding his possible departure from Ducati Marlboro.

Balaton Ring

"Designed to be like Valencia", I read somewhere. Makes sense if Rossi has been involved with suggestions (as I have read somewhere). Isn't Valencia a 'Yamaha circuit'?

[edit]
Found the garp:

The Sedesa group will build a circuit at a cost of 80 million euros near the village of Savoly in southwest Hungary. Work will be started in September this year and it is planned to be completed in 8-10 months. The first Hungarian Grand Prix event will be held in September 2009 and it will be organised each year until 2013. The circuit will be 4,650 metres long and it will be similar to the one in Valencia. The proposals of motorcycle racers Valentino Rossi and Gabor Talmacsi will also be taken into consideration in the circuit's design. Talmacsi said one of his great dreams will come true when he can race in front of the Hungarian audiences in 2009. He added that he would compete in the 250cc category. The Hungarian Grand Prix is expected to attract 110-140,000 visitors

Some observations:

1 - is there room for Barros? Ducati should field a 5th bike for him.wink.gif

2 - I've read Spies wants 2 million to ride. If it's true, I find that outrageous. A guy like him should be chasing the best seat and not a pay check.

3 - If Michelin really really really want to stay and win, they should pay for Team Roberts to come back to action.

4 - How many bikes should we expect on the grid next year?
Gilles4Ever
1. No

2. Lets see if Honda USA think he is worth it, Suzuki apparently dont

3. Roberts has sold up all the equiipment afaik - there is no coming back

4. 20

Okay.
Too bad for Barros.

Yeah

imo he would be a better bet than De Puniet or Nakano and pretty much ideal for Pramac to show someone like Kallio the ropes
Madeup Name
Why is Toseland assumed to be staying? He seems to be falling off the back of the field at the moment....
Ross Stonefeld
Because you are judged on season long performance and perceived potential.

Who/what is Alice?

Ross Stonefeld
D'Antin Ducati, currently known as "Alice Team"
Atreiu
Let me rephrase.

The Alice that is stamped on the bikes where Tobaco sponsorship is not allowed, who is that?

Nah, I'll google it...

edit: okay, I found it.
Ross Stonefeld
It's the internet division of Telecom Italia and their primary markets are Italy Germany and France, all three GP's they sponsor in bikes.

Smart move for him singing early instead of playing the waiting game.
Reality smacked him in the face at Donigton and things have gone downhill since.
But then, to be honest, Edwards' form only lasted one race longer and then he went backwards as well.

The Argentine press has confirmed that Sebastián Porto have recently had offers from KTM and Aprilia to return to 250cc. In my humble opinion, Porto would accept only if that means a quick step up to MotoGP. Au contraire, there's no reason for him to leave TRV6 and his family (remember he left the Continental Circus for a combined bunch of reason: uncompetitive bike and lack of real support from Honda, no clear chances to enter MotoGP with a good team, he wanted to get married and never really established himself in Europe, etc)
Last year he had talks with D'Antin and a World Superbike's team which runs with Yamaha (the name of the team was kept in secret).

Mamola on the Eurosport commentary during FP2 suggested that:

Elias is off back to Gresini
Nakano is wanted by Kawasaki, but Aspar wants a Spanish CEV 600cc rider. HRC want Nakano as Official Test Rider
Kallio and Canepa at Pramac with more factory involvement
Dovi is reluctant to move to Repsol Honda as Pedrosa is there

Another which is even more hard to believe is Pedrosa has one year left to win the title and Kiyo could pick up the ride in 2010.

how long contract has Lorenzo?

odd, considering it looks like kiyo is about to be dropped from the "factory" Ten Kate Honda in WorldSBK. If Honda want a Japanese rider - Takahashi
