based on these tickets, have any recommendations for grandstands?
I was thinking of Gold 2, 3, or 4 as I can see up Eau Rouge and still keep on eye on the La Source hairpin.

But to those that have been there, any recommendations?

Whenever I've been I've sat in Gold 2 so I could get under the podium at the end of the race. Gold 2 is the big covered grandstand at the top of this photo.

But I would imagine Gold 3 or 4 would give fantastic views.

Have fun.

Last year i was seated at Gold 3 (Eau rouge - radillion) just a fantastic view... You cant realy see La Source, but you can see the cars coming out of La Source going down the straight to Eau rouge. Just gave me goosebumps!

If you want i can send you some pictures i took from gold 3

A group of various friends and I have been to all bar one of the last seven or eight races in various grandstands, if this is your first visit, which it is by the sound of it, I would go for Gold 3 if possible. It has a terrific view, the best on the circuit in my opinion, you won’t see any overtaking but you will see the cars for a good length of time, something you don’t get all over the circuit.

From Gold 3 you used to be able to see the entrance to the Bus Stop in previous years but since the alteration I not so sure you can now, you definitely can’t see it from Gold 4 which we were in last year, Gold 4 also has a terrific views being alongside Gold 3 and would be my second choice of the ones you’ve suggested.

We’ve plumped for the new Grandstand, Gold 6 at the Chicane this year because that was the scene of a lot of overtaking attempts last year.

Whatever seat you pick you’re almost guaranteed a great time cool.gif

Gold 3 & gold 4 both have superb view, only gold 3 is covered though. So in case you don't want the rain pooring down on you... grab gold 3. :>

I'm off to Spa this year too. Can't wait! smile.gif

I will have Gold 1 tickets for the pit straight as sadly Eau Rouge was sold out. I was wondering, with the gold ticket will that allow us access to some of the general admission areas as it would be good to have a walk about perhaps to Kemmal or Blancimont during practice?

Either way it is going to be great!

You should be able to sit in any grandstand on the Friday & be able to go anywhere in GA on any day.

Thanks F1 Annie!

I think me and the wife will be off to Eau Rouge on Friday, have a walk around the GA areas too before settling at the main straight for the race. Seriously cannot wait!

I am soooo jealous!! Hope you have a great time.

For those of you who are going to Belgium for the first time: enjoy! I went last year and had a cracking weekend. Seeing Eau Rogue in the flesh is unbelievable. I could stand there all day in a amazement watching them bomb it down from La Source up there.

I highly recommend doing a lap of the circuit as well. The location offers some great viewing points. We only had bronze tickets (GA) and watched proceedings from Pouhon which was about twenty times better than any of the views on offer from say Silverstone on general admission!

Sadly, Ron doesn't return my calls, so I won't be doing a lap in my favored form of transportation.

Are you talking walking around the circuit or is there some way to actually get around there in a car? Is part of the circuit still public roads? I'm hanging around for a week after the race...Is it possible to drive some of the circuit X amount of time after the race weekend?

I meant walking! They open the circuit after the podium ceremony so you can walk the track if you want as well.

Yeah, who wants to sit anyway? Spa is a huge track, you can walk around quite a lot there.... And after the race is always fun to climb the fence and jump onto the track and collect some crash-parts....

As dank says, they let you on the track after the race. Spa is unique (as far as I know) in that there's no victory lap. The cars take the flag, slow, go round La Source and straight into the pits via the pit lane exit which is at the top of the hill.

Last time I went I left my grandstand about 4 laps before the end & queued by a gate. As soon as the last car took the flag, they opened the gate. Then it was mad dash up the track, under the podium, got some drops of Mumm on my tongue. Well it might have been driver sweat I suppose. love.gif

All this talk of Spa has got me wanting to go next week now! frown.gif

F1Annie: did you walk up Eau Rogue once they opened the track? Not an easy task!

Just got my tickets this is going to be amazing. This is the first time ever I've been going on a holiday and hoping that it rains! Hopefully not all the time though just at the race!

On a whim, I've just booked some time off work and a Eurostar ticket and planning to head down on Thursday evening. Not been to Spa for nearly ten years. Keeping fingers crossed that it won't have sold out by Friday morning, else I'll be watching the race in the pub.

(if this sounds dangerously ad-hoc and unplanned, last time I went, I decided on Friday morning I wanted to go to the race and hitch-hiked all the way down from Scotland - that was in 1999)

Good luck!

I did!! I was actually on hands & knees at one point! Once I'd got to the top I decided to walk the whole circuit. It's a loooong way on foot but so worth it.

Sitting is for Sunday Friday and Saturday are for walking up.gif you guys will have the best of times. good luck to all of you. Take care in the Eau Rouge tunnel human Traffic Jam

but don't hope for rain too much. low cloud cover can mean no helicopter clearance for take off and that means no F1.

just be warned that's all. low cloud, rain, or fog means no action.
