On 28 Sep 1952 Chico Landi won the GP die Bari - which was a sports car race - with Ferrari which has been entered as tipo 225S by "Ecurie Cantore".



As the photo shows the car was a 166 Touring barchetta which most probably was updated with a tipo 225 engine.

Who knows more about the car? Some sources say "0012M" but I doubt this.
Who knows more about Ecurie (or possibly) Scuderia Cantore?

On 8 April 1956 at Interlagos Alfredo Santilli reportedly raced a "1951 250 MM" 2490 cc.



This is no 250MM (which would have been 3 litres anyway) but clearly a 1949/50 Touring barchetta (where the 2490 cc also would not fit).
Santilli is supposed to have bought the car from Hugo Borghi and sold it in 1957 to a "collector".

Who knows more about the Santilli car?
Who knows about any other Touring barchetta raced in Brazil?
Is there any known relation between Landi and Santilli or Borghi?

Barchetta lists the 1952 Landi Bari winner as 166MM s/n 0008M, the 1949 Mille Miglia and Le Mans winner. They quote "FEO p301" as the reference (what is "FEO"?) If so, did the Swiss driver Peter Staechlin still own it when Landi raced it? Staechlin has been discussed on another thread.

I highly doubt this information being correct. Photos prove that the slots on the engine cover at Landi's Bari car are further forward and closer together then on 0008M (the photo above is only a small version of that I have).

Francesco Buonaccorsi seems to be the right track, most probably he drove this car in 1952 at the Mille Miglia and Monaco.

However, anybody able and ready to translate the full text into English?

A rough draft to start with, before someone offers a better job :

"It would have been logical for a 225 to win, but instead we saw in disbelief the victory of Chico Landi with an old 195 Touring barchetta. The brazilian driver trusted the organizers for finding him a car. A deal was made with Francesco Cotrone, owner of the scuderia name after him, who provided the 2300cc car of Enrico Bonaccorsi. Knowledge of the track and personnal talent were the key for this surprinsing result."

"Ecurie Cantore" did not ring a bell, but Scuderia Cotrone does. They were still entrants for formula 3 cars in the late 60s.

About Buenaccorsi's 195 S barchetta :

- There is a picture in Marzotto's "Red Arrows", with chassis number given as 0012 M. The pain scheme is different from your photo in Bari.
- In a article in french magazine "L'automobile historique" (at the time of it greatness) about the 1952 Monaco GP, Buenaccorsi is said to be a DNS, with a 166 MM / 225 S, chassis number 0012 MM (no photo).
