From a design point of view Alonso's McLaren helmet has easily been his best one so far. All of the others have been mediocre at best, all destroyed by tacky colour schemes.

i think someone said a while ago it was a throw back to his Karting colours, not sure if its true but i think it was one his best ones.

I also liked this one from Alonso

I also liked this one from Alonso

A bit on the bling-blingy side but certainly better than his regular one.

i like this one apart from raikkonen apart from the Marlboro barcodes

I think Alonso's first (2001-2005) helmet design was his best.

Wurz's design was a lot cleaner during his original stint (1998-2000) in F1.

I liked DC's Red Bull one so much I bought a replica.

up.gif very cool, I'm after a Lewis one but they're rather expensive

I like Felipe Massa's helmet from this year's Brazilian GP

good one from JB

I like the helmet Jenson used at Suzuka (and Monaco?) 2011. Red and white helmets need to be used more! His normal design is probably my favourite. Also like Lewis', and Mark Webber's. He's been using a similar design since his pre-Red Bull days but it fits in with their logo pretty well.

I paid £300 for it on eBay up.gif

I generally prefer it when drivers maintain a consistent design through their career, especially when they contain some personal meaning. Jenson's has always been my favourite, even though it's changed a fair bit since he debuted in 2000.

A driver's helmet used to be their trademark. I find this constant changing of designs boorish. Today most helmets are so busy they just look like a mess.

I find it fascinating that some people are literally on the edge of their seats to see new helmet paint jobs.

Oh well.....to each his/her own.

I liked how Rubens retained the main pattern even when he had special paint schemes.

The problem with PDR's helmet is that it is overkill, the overlay and underlying designs are good and can stand on their own.

Yellow and blue then remove the other colours for white?
ensign14
There isn't really a design there at all, it's just a bunch of crap thrown together. If he had a plain blue helmet with a broad red stripe and an Italian flag design on that, it would be a lot better. If he really wanted vomit yellow he could have it as a thin dividing strip between the blue and the red.
Ross Stonefeld
Yeah it's part of that 'karting helmet' generation where if you turned off the TV and tried to redraw a helmet you'd struggle to remember what the lines were.

Always loved this helmet. Looks like a samurai.

I think Paul di Resta should go for a helmet similar to Darios combining the Saltire & the Italian flag

paul did have that design when he was a kid racing in karts. i remember seeing him use it at buckmore park in super 1.
jrg19
His silverstone helmet was much much better design.

Ive just painted my first helmet, a Michael Schumacher based replica. I didn't use the Merc badge and keep roads safe sponsor. Also i removed the chinesse writing as that is the names of his kids and wife, which would be weird lol

Ill post some pics, when its lacquered as the colours change massivly when it is. Here are couple pics i took tho on my phone cam

The truth is he changed his design before Melbourne. Probably he realized as well that it's way too complicated.

He used this one in 2011: http://www.daimondesign.comuf.com/index.ph...l-di-resta-2011

Almost every one was painted/logo'd last year

Haven't noticed before that Button is using the services of Uffe Tagström (Uffe Designs) these days. Uffe has been designing Kimi's helmets for years.

I know this isn't what you wanted to hear, but it's ugly man. If you intend to race it I think you should come up with something more original and with meaning to yourself than a bland Schumi ripoff + transformers logo (RICER) + monster logo.

My 2 fav helmets I raced, included a pure white one with gold pinstriping and sponsor stickers (redone to all be gold), and a helmet that was a hexagonal gold boredered green tortoiseshell pattern which worked surprisingly well despite how it sounds. biggrin.gif Sorry don't have pics of them.

Your right! Totally agree with you.

A fair chunk of them are just too busy and incoherent for my liking. Your going 200mph for god sake! Keep it simple, effective, easily noticeable & DON'T CHANGE IT EVERY FRECKIN RACE!

Rant over. cool.gif
