The portrait of Clark with goggle marks is stunning, I can't find it though.

there is also a great pic in niki lauda's book that shows 3 drivers around a corner, one with a neutral car, one with oversteer and one with understeer.

I'm not sure what to read into this, but around 25% of "The great Formula 1 photographs" posted or referred to here involve accidents.

That is a great shot.

I think this one is the shot of 2007. Really sums up Fernando Alonso's time at McLaren. No surprise it was taken at Hungary last year.

i liked the ones of lewis's tyre delmaination or whatever in turkey, just cos the shape/form of the flailing tread reminded me of the comic spawn. and spawn in awsomesource

I cant find it either, but almost every photo of Jim Clark is a classic.

Thanks, Yes it is Brands (Druids) and I got the shot during the first A1GP weekend there in 2005. I'm not sure on car or driver details or history I'll have to check my records at home.

BTW Rolf even though Kimi and Fred hadn't earned them yet I think this foursome score slightly higher don't they? (they also did ten on the bounce between them)

That shot of James Hunt is magnificent...

The picture of Jim Clark's expression after learning of deaths at Spa after an early 60s GP is well known as one of the memorable and haunting F1 images.

There's a number from various years at Monaco, nicely composed from above that include the waterfront and/or old buildings.

One that came to mind from an old Road and Track magazine was Gilles V leading the group across the line at Spain 81.

What about the use of still cameras onboard the cars? I've seen it a few times but always thought it could be used more - just swap out a video onboard. It would take some good timing as for when the frames were taken, but today it doesn't seem like a big deal. Think of all the possibilities for BB discussions of incidents

That Kimi picture is great. I generally don't like the colour scheme of the McLaren but in that pic it looks fantastic.

I think it may also be the one John B is referring to, but it was actually taken in 1962, not 1960.

There's a pic of Jim Clark, in full flight in the cockpit, taking a corner, mouth wide open and screaming something to the photographer which even hearing people can lipread: 'F..k off.' Clark was of the opinion that this particular photographer was too damn close.'

Later he signed this same picture with: 'Honestly, I didn't mean it.'

Could well be its a classic, especially with the blur....

There is another photo illustrating how "...he would fix the photographer with a stare, as though posing...", and another where he is either singing out loud or "... hurling some rude epithet at (the photographer)..." . It is possibly this last one that you are thinking of?
