I am considering a trip from UK to Monza. Bit of a last minute thing really. As a Monza virgin can anyone tell me where to stay (In Milan seems to be the favorite?). Should I get a grandstand seat or is general admission ok? Please bear in mind that I'll be taking the wife who is not quite as much a fan as myself!

Oh, and I plan to drive down over two days so any thoughts on good places for an overnight stop would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Normally I'd say stay in Milan close to the central train station, then take advantage of the excellent public transport to and from
the circuit. But as you're bringing a car with you I don't know what the best plan would be, I've never looked into how many hotels
can offer a car parking space.

From what I've seen the general admission didn't look too great, Mostly dotted around in the forest sections. You're unlikely to
be able to see a video screen and with the noise of the cars, probably wont hear the commentary either.

Get a grandstand on one of the chicanes, the first (prima variante) is my favourite. You'll see lots more action and be able to
watch the race in (relative) comfort smile.gif

With the price of gas as it is these days, I would never drive from the UK to Italy but instead take easyjet or ryanair to Milan. You can stay wherever in Milan as public transportation is awesome. Train to Monza leaves from Stazione Centrale and at the Monza station you will take a bus to the parc.

And like nuggat said, get grandstand tickets. General Admission would be a pain in the arse for you and especially your wife who is not too much of a fan.
