Nice run by Karun Chandhok. Hopefully he can maintain it during the race and not be the target or cause of a boneheaded move, like all his other races. frown.gif
CWeil
Giorgio to pole, not surprisingly...hell of a lap.

I spoke too soon. frown.gif
santori
Good racing between Maldonado and Grosjean. A pity about Parente.
santori
eek.gif Pantano makes Massa at the Hungaroring look lucky.
peroa
WTF?
Senna and Pantano out!
le chat noir
crazy. and senna misses out on pole too.

might the same happen tomorrow?
Motormedia
Looked like they ran out of fuel.

Good driving from (and good luck for) Di Grassi to take fourth after qualifying. Luca Filippi on pole for tomorrow?
Jackman
Pantano, Senna, Chandhok and Iaconelli ran out of fuel - it was always marginal, and they were filled to the brim, but didn't make it.

One more lap under safety car and they would have been fine.
Ross Stonefeld
Is there a fuel pickup issue at this circuit? Given it's a spec series, why didn't they make the race distance a lap or two shorter?
tidytracks
Well, if the new car is screwed for fuel here, they'll have to do something for Spa because it's even longer.
Jackman
Dude, you of all people know that they run less laps on a longer circuit...

Turns out that it was a bit marginal because of the heat: the teams were told they could refuel after an installation lap if they wanted to, and some of the teams did just that while others didn't. The results show which teams did what.
Gemini
The best part is that the anthem they played for Petrov was anything but NOT Russian anthem. lol.gif

wink.gif Yeah, I mean that the outlap to the grid is longer... sorry blush.gif didn't make myself very clear.
Odvan
Guys, where can i find first race? I want to see start only.
jokuvaan
Race was so boring after the start that I went to ZzzZZzzZZzzz...
president evil
Too right. First and last laps the only highlight. If a GP2 race produces little or no overtaking then it doesn't look too promising for the Grand Prix tomorrow frown.gif

Not necessarily. GP2 has been boring this year, the new car seems to have made it more difficult to pass.

Thanks SchuOz.

It was not nice watching all those cars crawl to a stop. Race distance should have been reduced by a few laps, they should never run that marginal. Season seems to be lacking energy at the moment, though there were a few good moments of racing yesterday.

Grosjean punted out of race mad.gif mad.gif WTF
FredF1
Given that it was Luca Filippi in the other car, it was always going to end in tears.

Bruno Senna said that he had a load of dust and dirt on his tyres after earlier avoiding Soucek and spun off - there was no contact between them.
Mr G
Great race from Di Grassi up.gif. What could he have done if he had been with the team from the start of the season.
I think the insident between Filippi and Grosjean was a racing insident and shuld not render a penelty for Filippi. It was not a dive like the one Chandhok did on Villa and Petrov.
primer
Both were silly moves. Filippi's was malicious, he couldn't stand Grosjean overtaking him and running away in the distance so he pushed him out. Chandok had sudden Sato inspiration.

And god these GP2 cars are fragile. Chandok spun Petrov around and he had to retire. F1 cars are far sturdier than the GP2 cars, they take more abuse.

But the F1 brigade will drive around the track keeping a hefty margin between themselves and the kerbs. There won't be an on-track overtaking move in sight not to mention the layer of dust and gunk off the racing line. GP2 has shown that you need to underneath the other cars rear wing to make the pass work - F1 cars can't get within a mile of one another.
Ross Stonefeld
Thing is though, Valencia doesn't have any medium or high speed corners. There's not really anywhere except maybe the last sector where you're going to hit aero-turbulence that's going to hold you from closing on the car in front. It's all braking and traction.

Filippi's driving was downright crass on at least two occasions. He'd already pushed Grosjean off the track when the two were side-by-side at turn 17. In my opinion his emotions got the better of him. There should be a stiff punishment.
wingwalker
That move was never going to work, he just managed to put his nose up to rear wheels level and he expected the car in front to give up the racing line? Totally his fault.
Jackman
Bit of a racing incident, as Grosjean was driving as though Filippi wasn't there and the Italian was making an opportunist move, but Grosjean would have had the inside at the next corner so he didn't need to Pantano him.
tifosi
What a crap way to have a race end. Don't these guys know how to put fuel in a car.
postajegenye
What anthem did they play to Petrov on the podium on Saturday? It was definetely not the Russian anthem.
dank
What actually happened between Valles and Buemi on lap 3? I couldn't make out how the two collided coming up to the grid?

Valles did a late dive up the inside in the last corner and there was contact between them.

Georgian?! lol.gif
Dolph
It's very similar to Gerogian tongue.gif Funny how Petrov was holding his hand on his heart whilst the random national anthem played
