Mike Sinclair ( argueably the best ever GP mechanic ) named this Japanese trait as NIH..meaning "Not Invented Here". Whatever they pointed out ( at Suzuki ) as an improvement in May was invented in Japan in June lol.gif

Ok Quixotic / John, looks like you are trying to add links direct from your site. I think ( but not sure about this) that you need to get yourself a photobucket or photoshack acount ( IMO photobucket is easier, but folk like phil ~ fil2 have a photoshack account and use that fine. ) If you need any help I'll do what I can , but you should find it fairly straight forward. hth

For information, Derek Chatterton scored GP points at Assen in 1973, but otherwise they were all secured at home.

Hello, boys ('wave.gif')
Long time no posting. I've found this video from the 1985 Belgium GP on Youtube and thought it would be, hummm... interesting to post. Lawson is one of my all time favorites, and I remember reading on Brazilian magazines (around '86) that here and there he would have problems with marshalls on certain tracks. He was said to not suffer fools very well (either some marshalls or journos), but I confess I didn't understand what was going on, as I don't understand enough French ('blush.gif'). Maybe the good lads of the French connection would be so kind as to post a comment on the video. Well, any comments on the matter would be more than welcome, as I bet almost all of the brigade of gentlmen present on the forum might have some interesting trackside stories.
Cheers, and thanks in advance.

Yes Mike it does, definately looks like an Rg from the rear pipes and seat, but also looks like a TZ500 (G?) fairing dont know how that would have fitted on an RG ~ would have been wide enough I imagine being a square 4 instead of straight ?
Definately IMO Norman, Phil

My French is also EXTREMELY basic, but it would seem one of the marshals dropped the bike... eek.gif

I'm unable to watch the video, being on a slow dial-up connection, but I remembered seeing a picture at the time, so I went 'a digging into the archives and the story as told by Moto-Journal is that during practice Eddie went straight at a chicane , and when he wanted to get back on the track the marshalls tried to stop him and one of them found nothing better to do than to kick (!) the Yamaha as it went past ! Eddie went into a rage, stopped and dropped his bike and started a fist fight with the marshalls .

I guess these are all 350's even though there are two white number plates. Seem to remember the old ACU used to change their minds - as in white was OK for the front, but had to be a colour on the sides, whereas in GP & Euro races it was different. It was always a pain putting a stick on roundel on the nose of a fairing.

Right Andy, about land speed records.

Rudolf Kunz (R.I.P.) set the 50cc world speedrecord at 210.634 km/h with the works Kreidler-Meo in 1965.

Henk van Kessel (GP 50cc WC 1974) in 1977 at 221.586 km/h, with a Kreidler engined machine build by the Piet Plompen team.

Jan Huberts in 1981 set 224.58 km/h, with a machine also build by the Plompen team.

John Buddenbaum has broken that record on sept. 2 this year to 233.3 km/h.

The young man on the left with stars on his helmet set five world records in 1981 & 1986, he is also known as "de blonde pijl" (the blond arrow). smile.gif
