Hi Rhodie wave.gif

Glad I got one right for a change rolleyes.gif

Wasn't his wife's name Bronwyn? Jon Ekerold's sister IIRC.

I think you´re right Mick. Bronwyn seems to ring a bell. Wasn´t it Alan North who was married Ekerold´s sister?

OK too easy heh? Kenny is correct, but then I bet the signature gave it away.;)
And now for something totally different. Anyone know who this lot of lovelies are. I´d also like the venue please. It´s not too difficult actually, if you´ve been there.

Well no one even attempted this one, so I´ll have to spill the beans.
The first lady on the left is Jackie Mortimer, Chas´s 2nd wife. The lady along side her is Jenny Sousan, Vic´s wife,
then someone who´s name I have forgotten blush.gif , while next to her is the lovely Evelyn Dodd´s, John´s German wife.
Not sure about the last two.
Oh, and it looks like the old pits at the Nurburgring. Year? 1978 I´d guess.
How´s that for a bit of trivia? lol.gif

Alan North and Jon Ekerold were indeed presented in the press as brother-in-law's . But not sure which married who's sister ....

Michael Dowson on the left. Presumably an RZ500 motor on the bench. That's not Richard Scott, his Castrol 6 Hour co-winner, though, so maybe a mechanic. Rob Assink ?

Yes it's the Luton OAP . 123 is listed as a Suzuki 492 , the high level exhausts make you think otherwise , could be a Suzuki .

Hi Phil, no, not Phil Plater. I was really hoping someone would know the answer, because I have a small confession to make. The old memory box sometimes has blanks in it and I couldn´t remember his name either. I do recall he was a jolly decent sort though. up.gif
Of course, I could always contact my ex girl friend who I´m sure would remember his name, as he was quite sweet on her I think. Mmmmmmm................now that I come to think of it, it did seem odd that an absolute no hoper like me always had a ready supply of free rubber. I wonder....... confused.gif tongue.gif rolleyes.gifwink.gif lol.gif

As I hit the submit button the name Harvey popped into my bean. I´ll have to have another think, I think.

That could very possibly have been Bob "Cowboy" Cowley. He owned Gold Coast Motorcycle Wreckers, which was very close to Donny Pask Motorcycles. Donny was also very active with his support of racing. Fielding bikes like RG500 and TZ750's. He had some pretty good punters on them too.

Cowboy was always really helpful to racers as well. I remember having to do some work, late into the night at one of the Surfers meetings, and Bob volunteered the use of his workshop.

I recall a funny little tidbit.... Commenting on some of the improvements that had been made around the shop he mentioned that this young bloke that was riding for him was doing the concrete path around the side of the building. Doing, as in an ongoing unfinished project. To paraphrase Bob..."As a concreter, he's a pretty good bike rider"
